No, usb 2.0 is backwards compatible. Practyically this means you can use a 2.0 port on your computer in combination with the 1.1 MPC4000.

ok great thanks....i think i have asked this before but have never gotten a clear response....if i have regular win 98 and i have a usb port...and i transfer a file from windows to my mpc...lets say its a 1 mb file...how long is that going to take?

I also use windows 98 with my MPC, it works fine. The transfer rate of a 1MB file takes a second or two.

wow...thanks....appreciate it

if i upgrade to win xp...is that speed going to increase?

No, because the MPC will not change the rate of transfer.
