how do u guys store your files on the 2k on zips ?

i know on the 2k there are no folders so on a 100mb zip disk how do arrange your files, do you save the all pgm as beat01 and the all seq as beat01 ?.

I save all mines as APS. I save all my SOUNDS as WAV also incase I wanna bring them in the computer. when I make a whole song and it's in song mode and arranged I save it as both APS AND SONG. I have a 50 Gig hard drive connected to my MPC2000XL it goes from A to Z and I partitioned it all the way from A to Z.

Right now I am still on A to save my sounds in different folders. I picked F to save my actual songs that I will sell. other than that I have maaaaaaaaaaddddd space for songs. I stop using zips long time ago , to much taking up space! You can go to ebay and get a hard drive for the MPC2000xl :

Thanks guys i will definitely using some of those tips. Also does anybody know if you are samling in at 44 and mono the complete max length of a sample you could fit into a floppy disk ?.

I have some pgms with drums only and I usually sample something and then chop and load the drum pgm i want to use then save as .aps with song title. I then save the seq files under the song title, when im done it gets the all seq and song file also under title of song.

format that disk into partitions to your liking, I used to use a-z but i was using jaz disks. keep in mind that the more partitions you have per disk the smaller each partition becomes...also there is a windows registry mod that allows you to use a zip disk on both your 2000 classic and windows xp, to do it you would need your scsi zip drive for your mpc and another zip for your pc theres usb ones out there or the old internal drives. good luck.

I formatted a Jaz disc (1GB) on the MPC 2000 classic without partitioning it. Then hooked up the Jaz drive to my computer to write .wav files -I was able to write a bunch of files but for some reason after 200 files or so (single drum hits) I coulden't write any more files to the Jaz and the total file size was way less than 1GB. What am I doing wrong? When I opened up my Jaz drive on the computer before I wrote any files there wasn't anything on it.

If I partition a Jaz drive on a computer can the MPC read the partitions? I know the computer can't read the MPCs partitions

You must partition the Jaz drive on the mpc for your mpc to be able to access the partitions.

After reading this thread I formatted and partitioned (A-Z) the Jaz disc (1GB) on the MPC 2000 classic, hooked it up to the computer to load .wav files and still after a certain amount (I think 19mb) I get the pop up reading (something like....unable to create file...)
It's really not a big deal because I can get more than 200 sounds but I would love to know what I'm doing wrong or if it is possible to fill a 1GB using my computer.

i think the mpc (atleast the 2000 classic) has a limit to the amount of files it can have on the partition.
