Can't (overdub)record Velocity from Q1/2 slider onto notes

In JJ OS2 I could record new velocities with the Q1/2 slider onto prerecorded notes (for a "fading in" snare roll)

And I can't do that in JJ O2XL, i can record everything else with the Q1/2 sliders (filters, tuning etc.) but NOT velocity. I can ONLY use the slider to enter velocities WHILE recording notes by setting the velocity with the slider and THEN record a note. Takes a lot of time.

gimme a few hours and I will hae an answer for ya cos I know I was doing this the other day with the sliders an i'n running 2xl.
