roland xv 5080 to the 8 outs

If I connect the xv 5080 to the 8's shouldn't I be able to hear what I'm playing through the mpc and the speakers connected to the mpc?

the 8 out, are outputs, not inputs.

So I guess I gotta connect everything to my DPS 24 then! Damn I didn't want to have to do that! Oh well.
Then whats exactly the point of the 8's if you can't add individual sound/instruments!?!

LOL, it's REALLY not that intense dude! AGAIN, I'll just put the xv to my dps 24 be it as though is has a mixing bus. I just didn't want to do that because I don't like working off of it, and I was trying to avoid getting another pair of speakers. If push comes to shove I'll just sample the xv thru the record lines. LOL

you don't have a dps-24, tell the truth.

What's the big deal? You stated to "readjust my thinking on the 8 outs". The only thing I need to "readjust my thinking" on is my investment properties, and current investing strategies, LOL. The mpc is the least of my worries at the present!
I thought that the the 8's were for mixing, because the mpc does have a mixing function on it, and I thought it would perform in the same way as the dps 24 mixer would. MY MISTAKE...Sue me! LOL.
The dude before you stated that they're not inputs! After that its established already.
NO BIG DEAL, I'll just use the INPUTS on my dps then. And If push comes to shove I'll just use the record INPUTS on the mpc and sample the sounds I need! LOL.

LMAO! I think everyone here would agree that when buying any kind of gear it's best to research how to use it and what it is used for. I would never buy anything in life without knowing what I'm getting and what it is properly used for.

It's a minor aspect of what I wanted to know. AGAIN, what's the BIG DEAL???
I've owned the mpc since 2004 or so, I joined this site in 2005. I have 6 posts...I'VE ASKED 3 QUESTIONS IN 4 YEARS, so obviously the mpc is doing what i need it to do!
I asked the question because I don't like working off of the dps 24!!! The dps 24 has 24 inputs, and a mixing bus...PROBLEM SOLVED!!! I mean damn, I can take the mpc and run it through the dps inputs. I didn't know too much about the dps 24, except that it was primarily a recorder, but I bought it 6 months ago, and I'm learning to use it.
The other thing is that everybody doesn't have the luxury to live with their moms, or some other relative, or live off of some girl while they sit on their ass and learn the intricacies of the mpc 100%!!!
I know 2 producers that have their music out with the major artists, and they'll tell you that they don't know how to use the mpc or nuendo, or pt 100%, because most don't need to use their gear 100%! They use it for what they need!

I have my own place, have a great job, have records out in Germany, and France, and still have time to learn basics about any kind of gear I plan on investing in. The point was if you don't know the difference between inputs and outputs something is definitely wrong. I don't know my machine 100% but I do know the difference between an input and output signal.

dps only has 16 audio inputs.


I don't think you own any of this gear you claim.
