useful apps for MPC500 owners

the REX2MPC thread here reminded me of other useful apps out there for 500 users (links are below)

MPC MAID has a 500 (12 pad) option
REX2MPC
Audacity is free!
Sound Studio

melodyne dna ( you love the bassline but the drums in the snippets are weak??? with melodyne it's not a problem-take the shi** out! ...and you must neverever lookin for a break or somethin....)

Those are all indeed the shiz!
I've been especially impressed with audacity for pulling apart all those GH moggs.

Wavosaur has also been a friend to me for autochopping.

Interesting, I'm gonna try it now.
This must be the closest we'll get to JJ for the 500.

Although I have to add that no matter how much of a "virtual MPC" this is supposed to be, if I had wanted to go DAW I could have done it for a lot less money in the first place.

If you've got an Intel Mac you can run this with crossover pretty nicely.

Yeah, spent way too much money on Software... MPC basics are really all I need and the portability of the 500 is great, especially with a 2 year old to chase around the house, outside... wherever.

Unfortunately my 1k has gotten a bit lonely since it's kind of hard to pick up and go with it. Just wish the 500 would recharge the batteries while it was plugged in, but then that's a whole other issue if you don't have rechargeable batteries. I wonder how hard it would be to mod though.

That would be so amazing if you could pack it with rechargeables and just plug it in for a recharge like an MP3 player!!!

Thats a GREAT idea.... Probably not too hard to make happen either. Probably just switching up the input jack for one that can handle trickle currents for recharging. It's funny, when I bought it I kind of assumed it would do that anyway but it didn't lol

The JJos sequencer has been very usefull!

Anybody else having a problem with MPC Maids autochop?


I was trying to create some new drum banks last night, autochopped like 300 drum loops, but when I went back to preview them the files wouldn't play.

Tried to convert them from wav to wav (sometimes that helps if the codec got a little screwy), but the files where unrecognizable.

Turns out the hour and a half of dragging and dropping and clicking was all a waste.

I reinstalled klite and redownloaded MPC Maid but it didn't help, the same thing happened. So then I spent the next 3 hours trying to track down an alternate autochop program for XP.

I couldn't find this function in audacity if it exists.
Wavasaurs works pretty well, but is slower to click through which makes a big difference when your chopping hundreds of samples.

Now I'm using recycle which also works well, but like wavasaur is still slower to navigate than the MPC Maid function was.



Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Are there any other simple/fast or batch capable autochopping programs for xp?

I stopped trying to use the chop on mpc maid because it kept crashing on me.
