I bought myself a wifi radio (iblick) with over 11000 stations on it, I bought it with the intention of sampling some crazy music from random countries, only thing is, I've had it 2 days now and not managed to find anything that is making me wanna press record on my mpc. Does anyone know any good stations that play good music to sample??? I had this dream that I was gonna find a station playing non stop library records and old french breaks..then I jizzed in my pants, then I woke up and my radio was next to me still playing non sampleable music.

any suggestions would be cool but please don't start telling me to go out and buy records cos it's obvious I dont have the money right now if i'm going to these lengths.

cheers

a little advice...

what sounds like a wack sample today might be the dopest sh*t you ever hear later on. Sometimes if your not in the right mindset everything sounds unusable. This is why I keep track of records I play and sample. It almost never fails that I find something sick the next time i revisit.

You might want to at least get the whole song and save it for a later date. After a while youll have a huge folder with some potential gems in there.

yeah I get ya, same thing happens for me. it's usually when I'm no where near my mpc that I hear something and wanna sample it. I wasn't saying that I haven't found anything to sample or anything interesting but I haven't really found something that I would go crazy over. I will usually try and make a beat from absolutely ANYTHING but the last few days I've wanted to find what one would prob call a typical track to sample from.

anyway...

I would stay glued to the radio all week 24/7. Most dope instrumentals are played during the late night. Find out the timeframes of those countries, and their customs for playing music, some countries might prohibit music at night.

totally agree with pounda, sometimes **** you would never sample sounds like gold upon second listen.

That's why I love sampling, its always a new experience..I sometimes go through my old beats and use the same samples and create somethin totally different with the same shit
