Because most dudes here are either looping / chopping up a sample or calling up some preset patches, then they gotta do something to make themselves feel like they're "working".

You aint getting at me homie. I sample by choice. I also have worked with bands as well as composed for R&B. Sh*T Ive even done vocal arrangements with gospel groups, programming you name it..... I PUT MY WORK IN HOMIE....I dont just just take take take and not give back...Bottom line I dont give props to cats that just hop on youtube or a blog and grab whatever and slap it together and call it heat. Dudes need to put work in bottom line, I dont owe no explanation to anyone. I stand behind it, Youtube digging is lame. One thing is to just grab a loop and call it your own like so many cats do but to not even chip in a couple bucks to put back into a record store...then yall wonder why music is so watered down...yall wonder where the quality of music took the backseat to the quantity....everyone wants sh*t for free...you see it here all the time....

On top of that the quality is not comparable. Read around, how many cats sit here posting up threads looking for help on how to make their sh*t sound better. THen you check the root cause and find downloaded drums from a BS sample pack, MP3 loops and all other types of low quality sh*t..F that...if yall want yall stuff to sound like ass so be it...do you and Ill do me....but to tell me I aint put work in....you just typing to hear your keyboard click.....

^^^ yo dude, i aint sayin you personally, and it seemed like you were the one wanting to hear ur self talk with all the b*tching about youtube sampling.. sampling is sampling man, who cares where you get the sample from, yea i love finding good vinyl, i actually prefer it, but sometime you hear sum Sh*t on youtube and you cant find it no where, so fuc it, sample it.. as long as it sounds good in the end, thats all that matters right??

you know I was thinking about this last night, and pound you are right, if you sample all ur shit from youtube then ur beats are gonna sound weak as hell, ive only used youtube to grab sum lil sh*t here and there, you def dont wanna sample ur drums from youtube or ur tracks aint gonna be hitting, also sample pack drums do suck, although when I first got my mpc I bought 1 drum sample pack from the links they post up top of this forum and I gotta say those were good quality samples, but all others i have heard from other internet sources are crap....

Hey man, I didnt want to make it a you vs me thing, so my bad if I came off a little jumpy. the sample packs from here are good tho. The biggest problems are them ebay packs, the torrent packs, you tube drums, limewire and so on. The guys ripping them dont care about quality but I feel anyone serious about their production should take their quality very serious. It comes out on the final product and can hurt a potentially good song. Granted not everyone wants to dump $20 on a rare record but there should be SOME kind of contribution back to the music. If everyone does nothing but take there wont be anything left. Its all good tho homie.

you could do some piracy the manual way, lol... (crackin up while i write this)

get a zoom h4 or something like that... and hook it into your battery powered turntable lol.... sample the record right in the store! hahaha! (in all seriousness, dont actually do that... even if that form of piracy is probably more respectable in some people's eyes)

I don't really sample, BUT I did make my first sampled beat by sampling from youtube. I don't think it sounds too bad

I used a converter that changes headphone to L, R 1/4 inch outs....

I don't sample mp3s or youtube, but I have to say its all about signature sound. Those sites actually crunch the sound, but then again so does those vintage samplers that most of us covet. When it comes to sampling artisticly, I don't see why not.

There are artist that go to the studio with toy instruments from Toys R Us, to achieve their own signature sound.

Its about taste too, but I'm speaking from a creative view. Not these happy-go-lucky net-diggers that make sh!tty sounding beats and say its heat, when actually its a q-tip of needles and high pitched static.

I still like to sample dirty ass vinyl with fuzzy stanton 500's

but youtube is great for gettin dialogue and random weird shhhhh

Music is more than just the 70's. I cant find video game soundtracks on vinyl. Being so stubborn can only take away from you.

That being said Im still for the most part 80% vinyl beat making

you can get it from the console though...i sampled SF2 sounds direct from my TV for a beat I just did.

Yea I hook the audio outputs through my mixer. I just need to figure out how to get my NES and Genesis though

Those are only 2 tracks. All the tracks ive ever done.. I sampled You tube. i Dont own a single peice of vinyl! And for those who say what would premier,Pete Rock and finesse think? They'd prob Say hey, Its Hip Hop Baby do what u gotta do!! They Sampled records Becuz they didnt have any other sources. Weather its a Vinyl, tape, cd mp3,youtube etc... its doesnt matter as long as it sounds DOPE. Ive noticed this site makes a big deal out of where u sample from and what piece of equipment and what OS u use. Those Pioneers had nothing compared to what we have u think dj premier was like man if i can use this step edit feature i can really get that sound lol Please come'on guys!. i only use a MPC1000 and Youtube vids. no keys, no reason, nada!!!! Stop whining about what to use what OS is better JJ my ass! i still use AKAI stock OS on My MPC1000 with no probs ever!! I see people with all the gear in the world and guess what there music sounds like Trash!!!

Oh yah, i sample str8 from my crappy ass tascam us144 str8 into the MPC no conversions or bit rate changes, all that ish thats ur mind away from the actuall music..
