Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

so i recently copped an mpc 2k off ebay.
it came with the bootdisk a floppy with some drum sounds, a scsi zip drive and like 4 zip discs with labels on them.
im assuming theres some files on these zip discs but i cant get my mpc to load them

ive gotten to the point where the 2k recognizes that the zip disc is there but when i want to format or load it, it says "SCSI NOT READY!"

ive been messin around with it for a while, and i consulted the manual, but it offered no remedy to my situations.

Sometimes it will load and a messege will pop up that says "WAIT.."
so i wait.. and wait and soon 20 minutes have gone by.

thanks in advance

There are a few things that could be.

1. Zip drive damaged. (do you hera click sounds from the drive. this might be the click of death <- search to find more about it)

2. SCSI fuse inside the MPC is blown. When this has happen the display will show you the WAIT.... message whenever you chose the SCSI drive from the disk menu. Solution: change the SCSI fuse. You'll need soldering skills for that.

3. SCSI cable demaged.

Ok try this and tell us how the MPC react.

1. Turn on the Zip drive
2. Put in a ZIP disk
3. Put in the boot floppy disk
4. Turn on the MPC
5. watch the display and tell us what it tells while booting. It should search and find the zip drive and then load the OS from floppy disk
6. Press shift + 3 (disk menu) and change the floppy to SCSI
7. Whats happening?
