llike did the beat, recorded the vocals on the audio tracks, mixed the song, mastered the song burned the song

like no outside computer software, no protools

mic/preamp plugged straight into the 5000

anybody workin it like this (send link) if so

i got some songs like that, but they all use a moog little phatty for the bass lines though.
so i guess they're not 'pure' mpc5000.

but i never use more than 1 track for the little phatty. everything else is in the mpc, including sampled sounds, multisamples, i always use the synth, and the voice is recorded in there, and everything. and mastered/burned/whatever.

check out the first 4 songs at: www.soundclick.com/oneday2one

now, i'm not a pro, and i don't make money at this, ... so take it for what it is, but its all me.

cool, that "dead people" would have been nice playin on halloween when trick or trear kids came up

song mixes are something that improves with repetition and plenty of a/b tests with commercial realeased records

what mic did you record vocals on and was an external preamp used or direct plug into mpc(if has phantom power)

well, ... the first good mic i had was a shure beta 87a, ... i liked it because it was hand held, but i thought it would be good because everyone online said it was the best for live vocals.

well, ... its too hard to use. i have to use insane amounts of eq and compression to make it sound good.

the last two were made on cubase 4 and presonus firebox.
... i lost the usb dongle, ... 'skip' cubase.

so when i bought the 5000, i got a (true systems p-solo) with it.

so 'dead people' and 'yeah' is shure beta 87a through a p-solo.

after that, i got a shure sm7b because they said it and the electrovoice re20 (both broadcast mics) are the best for hip hop on a budget, and even michael jackson used the sm7b on 'thriller'.
this knowledge came from tweakheadz forums.

'close to god' was my first attempt to use it, but i was still learning cause its so completely different than the first mic.

'new competition' is the better second attempt.

*konc3pt* i totally dig everything you're saying, and have already been aware that it is definitely a problem.

1. - i live in an army barracks and can't have real studio monitors, so only am able to use my sony 7509hd headphones.

2. - even with monitors, i still need to track out to something like protools, ... because why? because you can get EQ on every channel, and compression/limiting/gating on every channel, ... and good reverb on every channel.

so with a better system, either hardware multitrack, so either korg d3200 or digidesign 003, .... and i want to get yamaha hs80m's with gikacoustics bass traps, .... when that happens, ... then i will give you a mix that can rival the radio.

without proper monitoring, ... a true quality mix will be impossible on headphones alone.

... which leads me to say, "i can't freaking wait till i get back out of this army"
