ive searched and searched... but

nothing yet.. ok im wondering how if there is anyway. to save beats so that the program. sequence effect parameters and all that can be loaded in one go i hate trying to remember what program goes with what sequence and so on. the manual doesnt really explain it well im sorry im pissing you mpc pros off but i need to get through this or im gonna huck the thing in the trash.

Try this if you can......
Hook it up to a macintosh via USB cable.

As a precaution copy all the contents of your MPC flash card to a folder you create on the computer.

Now open up your flash card (ususlly called untitled) so that all the contents are visible on your computer. Now make a bunch of new folders and title them with whatever your projects (songs) are called. Then drag all the components (seq, song, program, sampl, etc..) into its corresponding folder.
Now drag the "untitled" icon to the trash and unplug USB from MPC. You will now notice that your flash card reflects all the changes you made. I find things are much easier to load when they are all in the same folder. Also using the same name for your sample, song, and program will make things easier to find too. Once you are organized you can just make the folders on the MPC and bypass the whole computer. You should only have to load 2 things I think.... the program and the sequence right? <br>Or I use the load all command.

no go im not a mac user and im not hooking this up to a computer yet im just trying to get through this thing on a basic level first i really appreciate the help though thanks

you can do it that way .........Or u can just save the particular song by going to your save screen, turn the data wheel until you see save all programs and samples, push f6( do it), name your folder (whatever the song is called; hopefully if you sampled any thing you named the samples and programs too), now save your sequences and/or songs (that hopefully you named too) in the same folder, repeat process for each and every song you create and i guarantee you wil have a well organised experience with your mpc 1k.

The MPC manual's don't cover this and probably should, but I guess they figure everyone develops their own style of saving...

Poltergeist is right though... Make a different folder for each beat you do... Save the .PGM (Program) that goes with that beat... And then save the .MID (Sequence) file that goes with that beat... Then you can't lose track of what Prgoram goes with what sequence...

I think the quickest route is by using "save entire memory"

Save to a empty folder.. you'll end up with a project file, an ALL file, all the programs and samples that are loaded into the mpc.

Its a good idea to delete any unused programs and purge the unused samples before you save cuz it doesn't discriminate..it saves the entire memory.

I usually modify a program as I build the song, so when Im ready to save I name the program, copy that name and then paste it on the new folder and project file and and anything else that has a default name... including sample01's and such. That way everything is referenced, and I only have to paste the name around.
