turntable to line level

here is my prob, i got my turntable hooked up to my mixer, and then into the mpc, but when i am sampling it is so dag gum quite, and i have every **** volume knob blown out, any suggestions?

you have it hooked up to a dj mixer? or a mixer? make sure it is plugged into the phono ins on the mixer (if its a dj mixer) not the line ins. if it is a real mixer, it might be too much of a boost on the level and you need a cheap dj mixer, or an old receiver (that has phono in)

what outputs on the dj mixer are you running to the audio in on the mpc then?

the master outs....

the master outs could be line level, the rec or tape outs definately should be line level. other than that the rec level knob on the mpc should do the trick if it is getting a decent level. maybe the master knob on the mixer isnt cranked even though the cue level and gain and level on each channel is? you could always ty a 1/4" stereo y adapter to 2x1/4" mono jacks to split off the headphone jack on the mixer where you might get a little more boost. im not real sure, i just 'sample' into the computer where i can normalize, slice and assign to pads alot easier.

I've had the same problem. I started going into my computer and editing there in protools. The problem, I think, with dj mixers are the level of output? Does the mixer have a preamp. Can you directly from your mixer into speakers or do you have to bump the level with an amp?
