MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

Hello all beat bangers!
I'm trying to sync 2 setups, one is MPC5k based with some synths hooked up; the other is a logic pro system with an 8x8 midi interface and some synths hooked up.

I want the mpc as master tempo sending the mtc to logic, and midi clock to the synths hooked up to mpc.

But it seems that MPC5k can send only one kind of tempo to only one set of port (A, B, C, D, AB, CD, ALL), so I can't send MTC to port A and MIDI Clock to port B.

Synths does not listen for MTC time they want midi clock.

If this is true, this is a big bug in this machine, because I can't drive another sequencer and a synth in the same time.

When I bought this machine it was a dream coming true...... now it seems a nightmare.

Hope someone can help me with this issue.

Thank u in advance!

you're not alone...

and, as for your problem, I'm afraid that the MTC setting is global for all MIDI out's

So in a nutshell, you want to sync the MPC5000 with Logic Pro?

Where is the problem exactly?

You only need to use one type of MIDI sync, so stick with MIDI clock which is tempo-based.

You do not synchronise synths, you synchronise SEQUENCERS.

Therefore, you only need to sync the 5k with Logic.

Logic can not be synced with Midi clock it wants MTC

I need also to sync synths for Arps, Lfos and delay.

Anyway, thank u for the reply :D

I searched for this document up and down the akaipro site, I read about it on another post but no way to found it.... Thank u!

BUT this document talk about syncing MPC slaved to Logic, but I had problems with logic transmitting MMC, for this I wnt to sync MPC as master to Logic, This weekend I'll try from start with this document under my eyes.

Thank u or the reply!

You can send MTC from MPC5000 to Logic...then send MIDI Clocks from Logic to the Synths...

this is true, but I need to hook up the synth directly to the MPC.
But I think that I'll manage to use logic as master

Thank u for your reply!

I hear ya...by hooking the synths directly to MPC you will have tighter timing...Just out of curiosity do you know if this was ever an issue with other machines like MPC2000, MV8800, etc?

OK, specifics were not stated in the original post.

I think I'll step out of this one, sounds like you're smart enough to figure it out yourself.

So, good luck dude.
