JJ OS Bug Reports (ARCHIVE)

I have the same problem with my Roland JX-10 (basically 2 JX-8Ps built together with a better and larger keyboard and crappy software).
It also sends CC 123 - all notes off. But if I run the MIDI-out from the JX-10 trough Cubase 5, everything is normal. (Maybe you have to fiddle with "Midi Filter" on older versions)

OS2XL 1.22

This didn't happen before with the other OS2XL versions but now when I load a sample to a pad and edit it in program mode, for example amp settings, level or tune, then go back to main screen the sample is playing only out of the right side. When I go to the track mixer that track is panned all the way right so I have to center it again. This has happened atleast once in every session I've had since I loaded version OS2XL 1.22. I'm not exactly sure how to recreate it, it happenes randomly but something is interfering with the pan in the track mixer.

Changing track velocity % caused the mpc2500 to completely reset all settings to default such as bpm, selected tracks, programs etc

2. in main screen goto 4/4 and press window (open TSIG screen)
3. change timesignature to 2/4 or 3/4
4. goto grid edit and press shift+f3 (view), enter some events
5. the screen is working but theres no sound
6. press close, now you can hear the notes --> but not in view mode

I sent a bug report today to JJ with a project in which i had a graphic bug with a 9/4 sequence (and my september bugs too)

No luck from your side? no response from JJ?

MPC1000 JJ OS2XL 1.22

In OS2 I could record velocity change with Q1/Q2 slider, so I could record 16 hits of snare at velocity 127 and then overwrite the velocities when overdub-recording a Q-slider assigned to velocity. This was very useful when creating long snare rolls. But now Q-slider assigned to velocity is not recorded.

There is a bug with the chord save function i let JJ know and they gave me a reply -

When using the standard Akai OS I can connect to my Mac OSX 10.6.2 and my WinXP PC for USB access to my MPC2500.

Upon loading the free version of JJOS and the purchased JJOS-XL I did have USB connectivity for a while. But that has been lost. I have rebooted back to the Akai OS and can connect to both the PC and the Mac.

When I reinstall JJOS - free version or JJOS-XL the USB connectivity to the computers is lost... drop to Akai again and my connection is ok with PC and Mac.

This appears to be a bug that does not effect everyone... but it certainly does affect some.

Would LOVE to have this fixed.

There is a minor graphic bug when you select LOOP =ALL in the F1 tab and then changing TC.

BUGS REPORTED LAST WEEK

MPC1000 0S2 Ver 1.27 (also occurs on 1.26)
1. SONG MODE: Record sequences containing an AUDIO TRACK. After recording SONG TO SAMPLE, AUDIO TRACK changes the original sample that was recorded to that track with another sample that's loaded in memory.

2. AUDIO TRACK bug on MPC1000 OS2 ver 1.27 AND OS2XL ver 1.24
When AUDIO TRACK is not selected on main screen to the corresponding track number, the recorded audio in that track will truncate after the first bar. However, this only happens at the beginning and does not repeat when the loop returns to the first bar. This is still very annoying when recording in song mode and recording SONG TO SAMPLE.
I found a workaround.... No matter how many audio tracks I have recorded, if the first AUDIO TRACK on the main screen the main screen is selected for all sequences, all of the audio tracks will play out properly without truncating.

If anyone can verify these bugs, respond here and report it to JJ as well. So far, I havent heard anything from them, and I'm not looking to try and find the earlier OS versions where the problems never occurred. It's not worth it to downgrade and deal with previous bugs that also may prevent my workflow.

Bug - Users shouldn't be forced out of a MODE until the Main Key or MODE + PAD is pressed.

While in SEQ EDIT MODE, if your press F6 (Do It) after changing various perimeters, you are returned to the Main Screen. This is annoying because you have to re-enter SEQ EDIT MODE numerous times if you need to make additional edits. However, if you are in STEP EDIT MODE and you INSERT EVENT, you remain in STEP EDIT MODE even after you Press F5 (Do It). SEQ EDIT MODE should behave the same way.

I believe this has been an issue with ALL Akai and JJ OS for the MPC 2500/1000 for years but never addressed until the MPC 5000 OS2.

LOOP EDIT BUG:

Loop edit does not work properly on banks B,C,D
1. select bank B
2.hit pads - no notes are inputted on bank B
3.select bank a - notes have been inputted to bank A

note:
1.select bank b, move cursor to choose pad e.g.(bank B, pad 5)
2.press bank a
3.hit pads - no notes are inputted
4.select bank b : notes have been inputted on the original chosen pad.e.g.(bank B pad 5)

OS2XL 1.25 for 2500

Loop Edit: I can hit the pads to place drum hits (x0x-style), but only bar 1 allows them to be deleted by hitting the pad a second time. Bars 2+ can add the hits, but not delete them.

1000 2XL 1.27:
Crash:

Did nothing special, loaded 2 samples, chopped one, the other set to xfade loop (but didnt play when the crash occured). Crashed while playing the pads...
