Hey there,

I was wondering if it was possible to track out from your MPC1k into a DAW using only a soundcard like the E-MU 1212mfor instance?

The way I figure it... I would plug the MPC1k's midi out into the 1212m's midi in and plug the 1212m's out into the MPC's midi in. I'd then plug 2 of the MPC's outs into the 1212m's ins, sync everything up in the DAW and record two tracks at a time.

Is this plausible without a mixer, external audio interface, etc?

yep, tracking out is essentially masking separate .wav files of each track in your beat using the best analog to digital converter you have access to.

hell, I knew a guy who tracked out to a philips cdr 775 consumer cd burner, recorded each track, as separate track on a cd then when imported the the cd into pro tools at the studio the files were jus all dragged to the 0.00 point to all line up.

you can do two at a time if all the inputs ya got just more tedious and time consuming as you prob have figured out

Thanks for the reply.

Good to know it should work. :)
