Questions for anyone who recently got the pad upgrade

Currently all my MPC 1000 pads work fine down to even the most subtle taps. I do wanna get new pads to change the color BUT, not that big of an issue to trade 180 bucks.

If you have RECENTLY switched your pads, I wanna know if there really is a very noticable difference/benefit in the upgrade that would justify spending the money even though my old pads ( had mpc 1000 since 2004) work perfect as the day I got the thing.

If the differences are fresh in your mind, let me know what to expect.

Yeah the new pads have a nice little bit of give, which i find is heaps easier to get different velocities out of.

Feels like you can give em a bit more of a bash as well when you feel like it.

Only reason I forked out the $$ is because about half my pads (half) died so it was definitely worth it.

But if the old pads work fine I can't really justify recommending the upgrade.

Assuming you have the old style pads which came with the MPC 1000 blue then i would buy the pad upgrade and sell the old pads on eBay (maybe individually) before they break and are worthless, since there's bound to be people looking for replacements.

Thats what i would do.

I want red pads and black pads can't decide will prob order both so have switch out option 200 bucks for pads just because want different color when my old ones still all work seems high, but i guess worse things to spend tax refund money on

Yeh i agree man the new pads do have a little bit more of a give..the older pads r jus Hard..the New ones are softer..not ike the traditional style mpc feel but a lot better than the pad akai gave us for the 1000

I couldn't justify spending the money on new pads but I did it anyway. Partly because I kept thinking about doing so.

There is a difference, they're much more expressive and softer. Plus you can set up the gap how you want - I wanted a little gap [not the 1mm gap the new pads seem to come with] so I made a little template with smooth plastic risers and put some silicon sealant in there [to make it more like 0.1mm].

thanks for the replies, I'm gonna upgrade and get red pads, though due to your feedback I'm not as pressed being all my current ones are still working fine.
