I called Akai (uk) today about a problem with my lap and all other lap tops not recognising my 2500 (I did a post about this) an the guy said I'll need a new usb board, the part is 28 quid an then about 120 quid to fix...fooook that!! so anyway I got chattin to him about the 1000 vs 2500, and I said I actually prefer the 1000 if the pads are good because of the portability and the jog wheel, I then said but it's cool cos i'm gonna mod the wheel on my 2500 today anyway, he was very quick to say ''whatever you do, don't do it!!!'' he said that if you do a jog wheel mod and get away with it your very lucky as the wheel is so close to all the static boards. Has anyone here taken the click out of their jog wheel and had it mess up? I'm so tempted to do it anyway cos it's like one of those don't touch that red button things but then again it's probably best not to bother cos when when you think about it, he'd have absolutely no reason to advice me against doing it.
On the bright side, I'm not gonna even think about getting my usb sorted out, I just went out an bought a 2nd hand hd and a cf card reader off a hippy in a 2nd hand computer shop for £10 and £7.99, it's only 30gig but it will do the trick.
