exactly...im thinking of using it for mostly bangin my beats out and playin my samples cause im sick of keyboards..both are obviously capable...usb to my fl would be a nice option...the 2k looks more rugged and better construction..with the 8 outs i could just record my arranged tracks into fl and sequence them which is what id use the usb for anyway...repair and parts are more of aproblem with older machines though....all these things im trying to balance...ill prob go for the 1000 but if i find a good 2000xl prob the temptaion of having a vintage piece would be hard to resist....I JUST NEED TO FIND THAT SHINY DEAL YA KNOW HAHA

i i had the  i would buy both but im a broke mo' fo hehe but for real im not afraid of the old work flow as i WANT to learn, and starting with roots is good. i do agree though: having the mpc hooked into my fl would be UNSTOPPABLE HEHE

im pretty sure im gettin the 2000xl...im gettin it fully upgraded all outs, built in cf reader, and zip internal/external drives in case i want to go to that....bout $500 good price right? it seemed good compared to others of the same price since they all had somthin wrong or missing. the more i look at the new mpc's...the more i hear in my head CONSUMER EQUIPMENT!.... that shit is not proffessional audio equip....they are made real cheasy out of the worst materials....from the plastic the buttons are made from the the shit pads they come with...ive made my decision based on my budget and the fact that it seems akai with these new mpc's, has fell short of the standards they use to have.

Im not sure i can agree with the decision to get the 2000xl over the 1000 i own the 2500 ive worked briefly with 2000xl and the 1000, for one thing the workabilty of the 2500 and the 1000 is much better and im talking about even without the jj upgrade which i hear is even better,i was able to create beats as soon as i pulled the 2500 out of the box. Also with the jj support both are growing and growing all the time, your pretty much stuck as far as growth with the 2000xl. And me myself ive had to either repair or send to be repaired 2 different 2000xl's so they may not be the tanks you think they are

and it would still work top it off...

haha,

go with the 1000 if you can get it cheap with the new pads. You dont wanna buy a problem. Same with the screen on the xl. stay away from it if it aint mint. 500 for the xl and the 8 outs is a good deal, especially if you need all 8 outs.

if you could get a 2500 for like 700 bucks though, i would suggest that over both.
