storing floppys to the MAC via USB Floppy?

awaiting my 60

doesnt have SCSI

i assume that i can get any cheapo USB Floppy (Mac compatible) and put the mpc floppys in there for storing (backup) in the Mac

is that correct?

will OS X be able to read em right away, or will i have to use Translator for that?

all you will need to do is.

hold option and drag the floppy icon wherever you want it.


this will copy the whole floppy to your hard drive.

no special software needed.

gonna check if making pgm`s in the RX soft has any advantage over doing in the mp

Wow, that is pretty cool and simple...I too recently picked up an mpc-60(with some issues but that's something for another thread) and was wondering how I was going to handle backups and whatnot with my mac...Lord Toranaga, do you think this is because the floppy basically just holds data as opposed to also storing the os like the sp1200 floppies do? Just curious but glad it works out that way...

i'm not going to waste any time thinking about why this works.

i recived the MAC USB Floppy Drive today


it doesnt recognize shyt, doesnt show anything on my Desktop neither with or without an MPC 60 Disk in

any idea Toranaga?


it is supposed to work with my OS X 10.5

but are all of them working with MPC formatted disks? i tried with or without CW Protection.. but the drive alone also doesnt show up as icon on the desktop

but the drive gets power, and starte reading for a while when a disk is inserted

was the drive used or new?


the brand name of my drive is "dynex"

i tried now 2 different USB Floppy drives and even with an self powered USB HUB inbetween because i thought it may be an power issue

the 2nd drive gets recognized in the system Profiler if run through the HUB but it does not show or mount any floppy drive in the desktop or elswhere


are you sure that OS X can read the mpc 60 formattet floppys? cause my Mac dealer said he doesnt think so

but can you guarantee that the floppy drive you named wil run on my Mac Book Pro 10.5.9 ?

than i will order it now and take back all the trash here to those who sold them to me
