8 OUTPUTS

i have the 8 outs but im not sure about how it works. i thought i would be able to assign each track to a different out. but instead i can only assign a pad to a diff output. can i assign a track to 1 of the 8 output or can i just assign pads to the outputs?

also it says 1/2 3/4 etc, can i just sent things thru 1,2,3 or 4 seperately or does it have to be grouped as 1/2 3/4? thanks.

You can assign each track to a outlet if you was to take every sound you use and assign it to the outlets but that's not what they really are for. You need to convert your samples from stereo to mono in order to just get the outs to just say 1, 2,-8

so it rrecognixes whether the sound im sending thru it is stereo or mono. also what are they for then? thanx bro

the 8 outs is so you could track each sound to its own track when recording. Matter affact you cant gather multi sounds so you could track each track like you first stated.. The reason you cant is cause when you put more than one sound to a outlete your gona have those sounds share the same output volume. The best thing for you to do now on is to sample your sounds into the mpc mono or convert them on the computer.

Yeah it recognizes mono & stereo. Stereo will show up as 1/2, 3/4, ect... the sound is basically split into left and right channels. I always sample in mono, so that I can get the whole sound in one channel. You can also convert samples from stereo to mono. To do this select the sound in either the trim screen or the program screen, open window, select convert, rename the sounds, and then assign it to a pad.

The 8 outs are used for multi-tracking beats at once for mixing into a computer or hard disc recorder. The 8 outs allow you to eq, pan, and adjust volume for each channel as you are mixing the track down.

When you use your 8 outs, just hold shift and hit mix. In that mix screen, theres a soft button for 'individual'. Then just hit the pad that holds the sound you want, and change the output number at the top of the volume readout. What I like to do is, once it's assigned, go back to the soft button for stereo assignment, and turn down the stereo send all the way for each sound I have put on an individual. That way, I can monitor other sounds I am loading/sampling wihtout the sounds on indiv. outs phasing because they are on two sets of outs. this also makes it easier to dump sounds I don;t need when I'm ready to save. If I have everything on the mpc that I'm using on individuals, then I just turn down the stereo mpc channel on my mixer, and if I hit a pad with a sound on it and it doesn't make noise, I assign it to off, then I purge. Boom. Everything I'm not using is gone. But be carefull.

Ohh, i also wanted to know if any one still used the stereo outs. my problem is i cant hear my metronome throw the other channels. should i pluuged the stereo outs to my mixer or can i adjust the metronome's channel output. thanx again.

I use the stereo outs for monitoring whats not assigned, and for hearing the mtronome. You can also assign the metronome to a specific individual out. I think you hit open window when the cursor is on 'count in' on the main screen. There should be an assignment section in the next window.
