i thought i was going to have to go w/o a synth for a bit but i can get one now... what should i get im just coming off from the korg ms 2000r and i liked that but it only has the one part at any point. what synth can give me great sounds w/ multiple parts?? i would love to have some instrument multisamples but thatll be getting real expensive im thinking...help me out if you can. thanks

Korg triton is the industry standard if ur looking for a commercial sound

It's true...but if you looking for a reall classic style synth take a serious look at the Virus desktop......Either B which is what i'm rocking....or C....It has incredibble potential....if you willing to learn about synthesis...

Theres the Waldorf Micro Q or the fully fledged Q...or Novations K stations, and there's a few fro Alesis all of them are subtractive synths.

Other than that look at the Motif....it's got a firewire option which really does the trick...but i think the Triton also has one.

And then theres Roland Fantom or V-synth....which i personally think is a little plasticky, but it's got a good sound....especially the V-synth.

Check out a Nord Lead or Nord Electro. They have some great sounds and you can assign mulitple patches accross the keyboard as well as layer patches.

Yes...Nord is hot.....really solidly built...but seriously try the virus classic or the virus C....

ive had novation ks4, asr 10, korg ms2000r, and played w/roland gear too. i heard the nord is a bit tinny and overrated. virus i like but what about a xv 3080 from roland? all i find is the same b.s. about the sunds and multitimbrality of it, does it work out?? i hear great things about motif but it is expensive and in a single rack space the interface must be a pain. i would like to have some multisamples to complement v/a synth sounds. any more help here??

Things is if you want a powerful V/A sound you gotta get a V/A. I've never used a Triton or Motif, but i tried the roland Fantom....and it's synth sounds sounded fake compared to my virus.

I suppose the XV's are good...they sound good and stuff but if you're looking for Multi sample then look at the new Fantom X7 from roland...it's a single rack with XV synthesis and sample cpabilities

the triton is hot.....and if you get it expanded right , you can recreate any sound in the synth mode, just punch the numbers
