mpc1000 as midi slave

Can any one help me, I'm trying to record midi with the mpc1000 as a slave, I followed instructions, but EXT. never showed up in the browser window where the tempo is like it's supposed to, what am I doing wrong

i'm having this same problem. no EXT tempo indicator (as described at top of page 46 of the manual) and apparently no Start message is being received. however note data is being received.

did you ever figure this out?

yes I finally figured out my problem, I had a bad midi chord. The EXT. your looking for won't show up until you trigger the slave by digital mixer or computer(master). The timing is great, just set the master tempo to the same as your track, for muting and recording one track at a time. Set the bar click to 0 for immediate start. thanks. you helped me realize that the EXT only shows when it is receiving MTC. i need to fix this on the software side.
