copying a track from one seq to the next

i wrote a beat on 16 tracks starting at track 17-32. i now want to copy track 17 seq2 over to track5 seq1.
when i copy it in seq edit mode it allowes me to copy the track but the midi notes dont go with it. i know its copying because i can see that the channel pressure is copying over but no notes....anyone have this problem or know how to solve it?

Did you switch the track to a Midi channel...?

is that the trick?
