Its a hoax, just like the 1200 turntable being discontinued.

Why would Akai discontinue a MPC thats only about 2 years old.
Don`t belive everything you read online.

I just confirmed this with a Akai dealer.

Mods should really delete this post.

Forums are very often very inaccurate. The 5000 is still fully supported.

When/if we deem it necessary we will.

That seems a bit vague, doesn't it? Just because something is still fully supported doesn't mean that it isn't discontinued.

Yeah, they're gonna put their time (which = $, by the way) into something they don't support anymore... Do you have any idea what you're talkin about dude?

How much 4K support did users get after it was discontinued? OS update? Anyone???

Full support stands for no replies to OS/BUG questions or any traces of updates after 10 months?

If I'm not mistaken, users of the coveted King of MPCs-the 4K had to wait a while for updates.

The 5K OS has some bugs but it's not unusable. I've noticed a few, but it hasn't stopped me from making beats on the unit. I wouldn't hold your breath for the next OS update. Just work with what you got, until we see an update. I believe 'fully supported' also means if your MPC is defective, they will take care of it.

I had to stop using the unit all together because the multi-layered samples keep mistriggering...

Windows 98 was discontinued, but you could still get support for it for some time after that.

Ableton Live 7 has been discontinued, but you can still get support for it. As a matter of fact they just released a new version of Live 7 not too long ago with support for the APC 40 and the Launchpad.

Back in the day when Emu bought out Ensoniq, all of the Ensoniq products were discontinued, but you could still get support and parts for quite some time after that.

Just because something is sill supported doesn't mean that it hasn't been discontinued.

even if it is discontinued... it's still dope...

forget anyone who uses a computer to make music... that's cool do you. the 5 thou is for MPC users. If you like the MPC work flow the machine is dope as hell... If the workflow's not your steez that's cool, but don't hate on the machine.

as it stands, i'm loving this machine. if they don't sell anymore, totally cool... I'd be happy with this as it is...

if they discontinued AND released ONE MORE OS upgrade, i'd be happier than a kid on christmas...

on that note... MERRY CHRISTMAS HATERS

True.
It may as well be true. The 5000 isn't selling and Akai can't give them away!
