pads not working on a brand new 2500

hi just got a 2500 and the pads are not responding am pressing mode and no luck just upgraded from a 500 am gutted just got back from the shop.can any one help please?????????????

Try a factory reset this happened to me when I first got mine.


The reset fixed it.

Pad problems have been known to happen with this unit, you may need to send it to the manufactuer to get it repaired.
I had problems with both mode buttons not wanting to come out of 16 level and having the upper left pad trigger whenever any pad was triggered. After sending it back I havent had this problem nearly as frequently.

I´m having the same problem. I´ve tryed a factory preset (turn on pressing erase) and it didn´t work. That´s what you call factory reset ? I was thinking if that´s a way to reset OS ? I want to try to update the OS also but my pads don´t work even to go to USB mode and put the OS update on the CF card. Is that anything that I can do ?

damn, i want a 2500, but yal'l making me nervous plus was playing with the display model at sam ash yesterday and had a bass spread 16 level tune but didn't trigger smoothly like the 1000 made me wonder

It's well beyond rumors at this point. What was a focus of quality and pride in craftsmanship turned into a quest for increased profits. Many instrument companies have gone this way in the past few years. The chinese parts that are loaded in current products are drastically cheaper for companies to have made. And the factories overseas making the parts and doing the assembly of products have almost zero quality control. There are other companies that are far worse than Akai for this (not that I'm defending Akai). Sad fact is that almost everything we buy these days is built to break.

I say we run up into akai blasting, i mean we are sposto be hip hop, so lets cap they asses!! f u c k akai, the cheap bastards, they are wasting peoples time and money... lol, last year I was planning on buying a mpc2500, but screw that, ima invest my money into a macbook and use software, my mpc500, and my mpd32 will be the last things i ever buy from akai, im done with them and numark for good, i will get a korg nano pad for a portable midi controller on my laptop, screw getting another akai controller you have to take apart right outta the box and put shims in between the pads and the censors, what a crock of S H I T!

Almost everything. But I think some companies still prime for the quality and durability. I have a Digidesign Digi002 interface and a Korg Triton for 5 years now without a problem, and I don´t take care of them so good (I mean, I don´t even got a case to cover them and protect from dust).

But, Akai being purchased for such a second-class company like Numark is the worst thing. I´ve had some numark products some time ago, and all of them was crappy.

But back to the topic. We have anybody here who already changed the pads AND the sensors of a mpc2500 ? I have some questions about it.
