Play triton keys , but record data on the mpc2000 sequencer

set triton to sequence mode;
each track on the triton can be set to play the internal sounds of the triton or the mpc; you can also trigger both; it is set to both by default. Firstly you have to decide what sounds you want on each track (save at least 4 tracks for each one of the mpc drum programs) So let's say the first twelve tracks on the triton will correspond to the internal triton sounds you select for each track. The last 4 tracks will be for the mpc drum programs.

press the menu button on the triton and then select p2 (track parameters) you'll see all of your tracks and you'll see a square underneath that says bth; highlight that and change it to int for the first twelve tracks and ext for the last 4 tracks (ext is external)
Now go to the mpc main screen and highlight drum:and change it to midi 1A; hit record on the mpc and it will allow you to record whatever you set to track 1 on the triton; then go to track: and highlight then change it to track to>highlight midi 1A and change 1A to 2A and now track 2 on the mpc will allow you to record whatever sound was on track 2 for the triton. ETC........
Now for track 13,14,15,16. You'll go to the mpc main screen and highlight track 13 select>then go down to drum and select drum 1 2 3 or 4; You;ll now be able to play the drum sounds via the triton keys or the mpc pads. Either or.

yo, thanks damixx , but for some reason it doesn't record it only records when i play the mpc pads.. i have everything in it's rught position still not recording... when i play triton keys .. i throw my hands up i don't know sk

yo maybe i'm not monitoring the data right, how would i monitor the input data going in the mpc ..

Make sure midi in from triton is connected to midi out (A) of mpc 2000xl.
And midi in 1 from mpc is connected to midi out on triton.

I can't understand why it isn't working. I have this set up the same way on the mpc 4000.
I have different sounds on each track of the triton in sequence menu. Select midi out A and channel 1 and it allows me to play/record my selected triton sound from the sequence track 1 menu.

check your midi cables and the connections. You should absolutely be able to play triton keys and here the mpc play it back once recorded.
The only other thing i can think of is toggling soft thru to off on the mpc 2000xl. Also hit the global button on the triton; select midi then deselect local control on (uncheck the box)
if it still doesnt work; you got me stumped because i had mine working proper when i had the xl. It also works the same way with the 4000.

Yo when i unchecked local control on box , the keyboard shutdown completely could not hear anything when i played the keys.. but when checked the box the sound came back, i don't know, also i set the soft thru to off still nothing,

I don't know man; follow this to the letter. Everybody I know with the 2000 and the triton has no problems.
are you setting the different midi channels on the mpc to match the triton.
if you are not hearing anything I suggest you try new midi cables; you'd be surprised at how a bad cable is the culprit of this very problem.
To be clear; when the triton is in sequence mode; you should have a different sound on each track. On the mpc main screen; track 01 should be set to midi 1A to match what is on the triton track 1. Not drum 1a. MIDI 1A. Track 2 on the mpc should have midi channel 2A to match the sound on the triton. if you don't hear anything it's your midi cables man. Replace them.
Also remember outA on the mpc should be connected to midi in on the triton and midi out on the triton should be connected to midi in 1 on the mpc.

Correct me if I am wrong... I am finding that tht only way to achieve this is by playing into the MPC in the COMBI or PROG mode and then once the midi info is recording into the MPC go into the sequence mode and choose the sounds for the desired track, because in secuence mode I am unable to hear what I am playing (because the only way this worked, was to turn global control off). Thanks!

MPC: MIDI IN to TRITON MIDI OUT

This is the most important step: Turn the local control OFF on the Trion. You can control all 16 channels of the Triton via MPC. In seq. mode of the Trion, just make a program on the MPC and lable each Device Triton_1, Triton_2, etc., etc. Hope this helps! peace

(Just change the local control to off) change the drums in the MPC to MIDI and then bang away... but whgen you bang do it in the main COMBI or PROG mode, and then when the MPC records the MIDI data go into sequence mode and then chose the sounds that you want(and make sure that they correspond with the drum channels in the MPC) after you figure out the first part just just play with it a little bit and then you will start to understand it a little more.)
