The Swing function on the MPC how does it work?

Max is 75% swing and Min is 50% swing on my MPC2000XL! What em I suppose to set it too in general to get that swing feel to my drum tracks? What is the true purpose of the swing? Do you guys add swing to every single track or just the drum tracks? Thnx

Okay write a simple beat. now play that beat and bob from side to side...or nod ya head. Sounds stupid. Just do it. Press stop but if you can keep playin tha beat in your head. Now open up the timming correct window and set the swing to 65%. Press play again...... yeah now you feeling it.....

and that is what swing is. If you want a rigid sound use swing. If not. don't. But swing is hip hop's friend. let him come over and play with you beats.

Basically all it does is it moves notes a few ticks here and there... Kinda like playing offbeat. I've found that I get the best swing with the timing off tho, just a natural swing.

Try it out, see what happens.
