Using E-MU MP7 w/MPC1000. How do you recall your sequences?

Ok....This is my setup: E-MU MP7 (w/pads, not rackmount) into my MPC1000. Using a Korg DSS1 Keyboard(no onboard sounds) to midi trigger. I use the MP7 as my sound module and my MPC as my sequencer.
When I create a sequence on the MPC using the sounds from my MP7, after I save the seq on my MPC and on my EMU when I play them back the next day, the kits I chose on the MP7 change. Thus far the only way I have been able to get around this issue is to seq on BOTH units, which is redundant.
There has gotta be a better way. What I'm trying to accomplish is using the MP7 as my sound module source playing the basslines using the Korg w the MPC as my sequencer. Does anyone have this setup? Any useful suggestions?

it has somethin to do with midi exclusive data, i haven't figured it out yet with my sequencer, but it sends the patch and settings info to your sequencer so when you play the sequence the right sounds play, i can send it (midi ex data) but can't get it to recall, i'm sure somone knows how, i have just been writing down my patches for each channel i use and i dial them up when i play the sequence, i know it is tedious but it all i know

use program change and bank change messages at the begining of the sequence for each track.

program change is a controller message that is very useful. I think 0 is a bank change message and 30 is a program change... so you got 127 sounds per bank and maybe 3 or 4 banks in the module. You can for example, save the sound you tweak and lets say your bass is on midi channel 2, insert a bank and program change message on that track, just before the first beat of your song and it should work

IF YOU CAN SEND THEM AND NOT RECEIVE THEM IT PROBABLY MEANS SOMEWHERE IN YOUR SYNTH OR MODULE YOU HAVE THE OPTION TO SEND MIDI SYSEX BUT HAVEN'T SELECTED SYSEX RECEIVE. ALSO YOU CAN USUALLY SELECT WHETHER PROGRAM CHANGE IS SWITCHED ON OR OFF IN YOUR SYNTH.... HOPE THIS HELPS

i think that might work, i never turned on program change, i didn't know what it did, thanks

yeah u could use program changes, i do it this way which i thinkk is easier than using cc's. on the mp7 just save your current settings as a multisetup, this way it remebers all the presets. then just save the sequence on the mpc(use the same names so your mpc sequences match your mp7 multisetup names). then you load the sequence on your mpc and also load the multisetup on the mp7.

Yeah im using an XL-7 with a 4k and I just record shtty 1 bar nothin sequences into the XL-7 so it recalls the patches... takes about 2 seconds...
any midi note on each channel, name sequence on xl-7 then just bring up the matching sequences on the 4k and xl(manually).

I certainly did saintjoe. As a matter of fact I have 2 methods to use as a result of these suggestions. The multisetup feature on the MP7, and of course the method suggested by boywithpez007. I'm straight now.

i have been baffled about this for 2yrs, i have jus been writting down my settings and presets for each midi channel

and to the rest of you cats who helped, THANKS, i now feel like i have a new machine cuz i don't drad using it because i have to recall each channel manually

anyone else using the mp/xl notice that if your trying to use multisetup with tracks you have sequenced the settings go all whack...

If I save a pattern and dont touch the multi its all good....
but then as soon as I save a multi then load it again it changes the presets???? wtf.....

This doesnt apply to using it as a module, its from the old days of doing everything on the XL.
Now I think of it I probably shouldn't save sequences just the multisetups cos the multi's hold the patch settings aswelll.....

theres a few more things you have to look out for. I use a Pk6 and you also have to save each program once you've finished tweaking. saving just the multi will only remember which program number you used. You have to save the patch once you've tweaked it and that's why you have user programs and another bank of the same programs. hope this helps.

^^^ yeah u have to save the tweaked patch, then switch to it in the user section then save the multisetup.
