Timestretching for midi??

hi there!

is there any possibility to record a beat and change its lenght afterwards?

eg. I record a beat that goes from 1.1.0 to 1.3.whatever, then I want to change it to go to 2.1.0

I think it's much easier to play a beat without having to be synct with something, that's all

is there any possibility or trick for this in the mpc??? (I would be surprised, but it costs nothing to ask )

I've seen this facility on a Sonar on the PC, but on the MPC? Nope.
All I can suggest is: set the tempo as close as possible, then learn to play with the click!

If the beats are all in a single sample loop, then changing the tempo will fix the timing, yes.

But this question is about individual beats, each hit an individual event in the sequence. A snare hit event at 01:03:168 will still be at 01:03:168 if you change the tempo., the whole pattern will be slower or faster. Not everyone uses loops, y'know...

Yeah, I'm talking about the same situation...each event is recorded in MIDI, not some lifted audio loop.

If the MIDI sequence is recorded 1st, then, during play back, you adjust the tempo, you are moving those events further apart (or speed it up to get them closer together). Isn't that what he's after? (though I know the question is to modify the MIDI sequence to move events around, but changing tempo does the same thing).

Changing the tempo does not modify the events in the sequence, so it doesn't solve the problem. You're changing the "real time" they come out, but that's not the question: ("eg. I record a beat that goes from 1.1.0 to 1.3.whatever, then I want to change it to go to 2.1.0 ") ...

I say prevention is better than cure, so just try to get it right, instead of doing it wrong and trying to fix it... sorry!

I'm able to play right, but I think I loose a lot of groove when I've to concentrate on the mpcs timing instead of just playing a beat, that's all...

I could play a groove, stretch it then on my pc and take it back to the mpc again, but this would be a little bit cumbersome... maybe I'm gona try this some day.
