AND...

Just because something is following something elses clock, does not mean it changes the swing of your mpc...

By doing it the way I described in my post before this one, you ADD the swing-a-bility of your MPC's sequencer TO your ASR notes you play.

NO MAN, i know that i skip the ASR SEQ but when i play midi, lets say a bassline on the ASR keys i want that Midi to be recorded to the MPC Sequencer NO? that is waht this is all about or i am really mad ???





By using the MPC to TRACK the notes you play on the keyboard of your ASR, into the MPC's internal memory (recorded as midi tracks)... then PLAY BACK the notes through the midi cable, thusly, playing your sounds on your ASR..

that other suggestion of you now to hook it all up slaved to the DAW seems like you cant bear this anymore :D

but how does this help when i want to record ASR playing and not triggering the ASR with Pads???


you can use either for recording midi data on your MPC...

so EXAMPLE 1.

you press Record+PlayStart on your mpc...


then you walk to your keyboard, and jam for 4 bars...

when the sequence on your mpc loops back, it will be playing what you just played on the keys...


EXAMPLE 2,


you press record/playstart on your MPC and play the pads (when on a midi track assigned to the correct 1-8'th channel) thereby playing your ASR sounds that way.

when the MPC sequence loops back, it will ALSO play what you just tapped.



DID I JUST BLOW YOUR MIND?????

Then the problem lies with what channel your MPC is RECIEVING MIDI DATA on

Go to midi settings and turn recieve channel to: ALL

And make sure your ASR out cable isnt actually plugged into the thru. JK :P

well there is no MIDI RECIVE Setting on my MPC 60 OS 2.12 and strangley nowhere any MIDI setting where i could actualy select "ALL" (every other Midi gear i had had that setting you are talking about) maybe the Problem is the OS?



the only thing in that context that i find, and wich is quite weird, is... in the MIDI Screen on my MPC i have 4 Submenues to choose from.... the last #4 says "TURN ALL NOTES OFF" i pressed the #4 button several times to see if it changes soemthing but it always stays in "OFF"

dunno if that matters, but i thought i d mention


like i said, there is no setting for MIDI RECIVE and i couldnt find ANY Midi setting where i could select "ALL"

ALL notes off is a feature to let you kill a midi loop that can sometimes develop, or a sticky midi note that wont turn off...

you may need that once we get it working.


its gotta be on the main screen somewhere? Post a quick question in the 60 forum, to see who can tell you where the setting is...

the really uncommon thing in the OS 2.12 Main Screen is

in the lower field "Track Data" where oen also select the track and Programm etc, there are 2x "CH:" on top of each other on both i can select 1A-16A

i jsut noticed that the lower one in combination with the upper one gives the possibility to trigger 2 tracks of the ASR at the same time...(eventho only one track is selected on the ASR)
but when they are set to the same for example both on 1A the pads wont trigger

i have no idea what that is good for.... but obviously it has nothing to do with midi IN

there IS a setting on the 2.12 for Receive CH. I know it... its somewhere,

LOOK,

LOGIC DICTATES: ASR is set to send midi out of the cable on program one channel one (base channel)

naturally, you could set the specific input channel of the MPC MIDI track to recieve only on channel one (base channel)

so if you don't see an ALL setting, then set the midi to recieve on channel 1

i did read upon the midi chapter in the manual meanwhile.. really NO WORD about a Midi Recive channel in there... and no word of an ALL setting either... i am afraid its not even there


yes, what you say makes perfectly sense... thats why i have everythign in the mp set to IN 1 / OUT 1 / and 1A

and teh ASR to base ch. and base ch. to 1

this is madness

i ll recheck all midi cables.. i did aready several times... but maybe out of 6 only 1 is working? :roll: .......what a darkness
