DICE EM UP.

Word. thats how you roll now.

let this be a lesson to the best of em.

make sure to save global paramaters to your OS disk on the ASR,

and it wouldn't be a bad idea to make a 4 bar sequence with all your 1-8 named outs on the MPC. and save that sequence to load. to save time at the beginning.
:)

ehm... this shit is spoooooky

none of the midi cables are actually faulty

anyway... it is out of my understanding... but i got it now... and now since i got i can easily walk back and check wich setting cut this connection

that "assign outgoing drum notes" definitly has to be set to DRUM notes or the MIX option.. but not NONE

but i tried all that before... without sucsess...

i dunno.... what i am actually suspecting is that there was somehow a corruption in the midi connection.. maybe at the jacks i dont know and by cutting all midi connections while the units are ON and reconnecting.. that it set it free again

or so.....

maybe thats silly but i need an explanation not to go mad and this one shall suffice  i ve no other idea

thanks so much for going through this wit me man!

YES i wanna definitly save the MPC settings as startup settings!!!

so just to make sure

i will simply set up 8 tracks and each of them get an 1A-8A channel setting!

i have no idea what the 2nd Ch. settings are for tho... but whatever

EDIT: quick stupid Question, since there is no SAVE TRACK(s) in the Save to Disk

wich is the right Option

Saving a Seqeunce? does that include the Tracks?

and also save Parameters?

anyway thats peanuts now

ok cool............ THAT WAS MIND*UCKING

The 2nd chan is to trigger two Different MIDI channels, If you assign them to the same one, then they cancel out.

Sequences are groups of multiple tracks, so yes

Parameters would be good to save once you have achieved repeatable results.

now that you know whats up, try restarting the MPC, also long midi cables = bad reliability.... shorter is better.

ok basicaly the rest shouldnt be at all complicate

i mean this wasnt either, but sometimes i feel like all those cables n tech are conspirating against me :D

ok so i ll make that disk with the 8 ASR tracks now, will update it later with 16 extra ones for Logic.... than Logic should be my next goal to (salve or not to salve!?) it to the mp

than i have to get my SE1 synth midid up inbetween aswell somehow.... and than i am ready to finaly make some music

but i ll try to do those things by myself.... or well... for the Logic part i may need Ceo`s support again

again, thanks a lot mate

the se 1 will only need one midi in... out from mpc b.

then its just finding the receive channel on the se 1 and setting the mp to 1B or whatever.

slave it.

if your computer isnt lightning quick, then it will cause issues with not recording correctly to the logic grid.

Big ups to Grub! Now to ion...I'm not looking for any glory or anything like that, I just know it couldn't have been anything other than possibly the two suggestions I gave.

Toggle through your options on the MPC, rather see if you can't change 1A "Drums" to another option

r u working wit some bad midi cables or something

This is from the other thread you've got running over in production techniques.

Though the listed options may be different (between a 60 & 4k), the meanings are basically the same.

But it's good to see you've got it nailed. :)

what OS are you using on the ASR?

what OS are you using on the MPC?

what recording program are you using to track your beats to?

what soundcard interface are you using to record thru?

which way are you trying to use your set-up? MPC 60 as master and ASR-10 as the slave?

hi man, well the asr to mpc is set up as far as i can say

so whats left is Logic8

i want to keep the MPC Sequencer and Clock as Master over Logic, if that is possible and makes sense.

OS on the ASR = latest

OS on MPC 60 = for now still 2.12 but in about 7 days 3.10

i am using Logic, but i only need it to run up to 8 tracks OUT of the DAW, SYNCED to the MPC timimng into my summing mixer
i am not tracking my beats but only the Stereo Mix out of the Summing Mixer

Interface= Audiofire 12

MPC 60 Master, ASR 10 "slaved" as a sound module and functioning as Midi Keyboard for the DAW aswell as for the SE1 Synth at the same time.
Logic idealy slaved to the MPC so the 8 instrument tracks run in the mpc and its timing

its late here, i am gunna do this tomorrow, if you wanna leave any instructions/hints/advices, they are most welcome

thanks

@dabmeister

i still really dont know what it actually was but yes, the best bet is some midi corruption of some kind...

i use Pro Tools, so i'm not sure how to set-up the midi in Logic.

i just use the MPC 60 as my sequencer and master and my ASR-10 to add bass, longer samples & synths, great effects and filters.

i just slave the MPC to Pro Tools when the beat is done, to tracks out my sounds separate.

def get that 3.10 OS for the 60, the old OS is bunk.

good luck!

aaaaaaah

it works.... with the MIDI USB Interface Cable it works

i used this to set it up:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skr9ayp8 ... re=related

BUT

i have the same problem with both the SE1 and LOGIC8 VSTi

i can play the stuff full and right sounding, either on keys or pads

BUT when i record the Sequence into the MPC and playback, i only get some short shyt sounding attack-like sound of the real full sound

what is the cause of that? given that it happens to both the SE1 triggering aswell as the LOGIC VSTI triggering BUT ONLY WHEN PLAYING BACK the Sequence i am sure it has something to do with the MPC

so what can be the cause here?

+my last problem is:

in the MPC or each ASR, each LOGIC and for the 1 SE1 Track i have to go to:
"assign outgoing drum notes"
and select the corresponding out channel of the 1-16
but the BAD thing is, when i go back to MAIN SCREEN and change to another Track, that setting stays in the previous ch. while it should change with the Track to its own ch. (of the 1-16)

i set up every track so that it has its own out ch. in THAT assign Setting aswell as in the Main Screen and saved it
but it keeps changing

fix anybody?

guys, i hope my setup disk and settings will work fine after updating to 3.10 OS
if i have to learn everything again in the new OS that d be shyt

update:

hmmm also the Sequencer CLICK gets corrupted sometimes... when i drag out the MIDI USB cable from my MAC, teh Sequencer Click is back to normal

so i thought i would try recording a SE1 Sequence while having the USB Midi cable disconnected.... but eventho the Click is normal i still get those short shyt sounding attack sounds

any1?
