LIVE 2500 SETS

HAVE ANY OF YOU TRIED LIVE MPC 2500 SETS? I GUESS WHAT WOULD BE CONSIDERED LIVE BEAT SETS. MORE SPECIFICALLY, HAVE ANY OF YOU PERFORMED LIVE BEAT SETS WITHOUT OUTBOARD GEAR, I.E. MIDI CONTROLLER, SP, ETC.

how are you going about doing this? are you using software as well? what do you think is the best way to go about setting up a live config.?

I used to do a live PA with the mpc2500. Basically what I did was I used it as my main sequencer and connected a Virus Indigo I to one of the midi outs of the MPC as well as a Kaoss Pad 3 to another midi out... routed the indigo through the kaoss pad for live FX and just used the mute unmute tracks to play my sequences on the fly.

I load various one hit samples, (kicks, snares, hh, note or notes of a bass line/melody, etc.) on a program. Then, have a few programs of this nature loaded at one time, so I can easily switch between them. This does require live MPC drumming abilities.

I saved all of the sequences and samples I'd be using into one "project". Named the sequences with sequential numbers ("01 - BOOM", "02 - BAP", etc...) so I can scroll through my sequences from pad mute mode. I planned out how I'd transfer from one song to another and made transition sequences for those song pairs with overlapping tracks that I can turn on and off from the pad mute. I've done it both with outboard gear and without, it's pretty easy either way but I'd recommend starting simple (no outboard) and add other gear as you get comfortable with playing live.

One note: NAMING IS VERY IMPORTANT. Name everything you can very descriptively. Getting lost in your own set sucks pretty bad.

i run the MPC as a main sequencer also i have every midi port asigned to a synths and vocoder,chanel a asigned to roland jp8080 chanel b asigned to quasimidi 309 chanel c asigned to micromodular for vocoder chanel c asigned to mixer 01v, I triger sequences with the pads and also triger sounds with the pads,
all is recororded inside the mpc sequences, de pads and leads sounds by the jp808, some drums and bass lines come from 309(no internal sequence of the 309) and the midi lines for the vocoders goes to the micromodular , on every track i have set up a mixer scenes where i recall from the mpc midi track

I do every thing using the track mute function. I save my songs a sequences and make different ending and fills that I can play around with live. I run that into the aux in of my rane ttm57 with a cdj 1000 loaded with vocal breaks and scratch samples
