Does MPC 2000XL have direct recording?

Hello guys,

I've bought a wonderful MPC 2000XL (that blue edition) couple months ago. But I play keys and I would like to record some sounds directly to the MPC, because it can't be layered better than that. I've been searching the net and I've seen that 2500 has that function. Don't get me wrong, but I even didn't think that 2000XL would not have direct recording. So is it over or is there a chance to figure it out?

The 2000XL is a sampler/ sequencer.

Any sampler should be able to record your keyboard sounds.

Just connect your sound source to the record inputs of the MPC and hit the record button to set up the parameters.

Not sure what you mean by 'Direct Recording', so correct me if im on the wrong track here...

I meant direct recording into existing loop. For example: I set BPM, make a drum loop and I want to hear that sounds and record piano directly to them, strictly to that drum loop what I hear.

I didn't mean sample function, I can't keep up with the tempo without hearing the basic structure of the song.

No you can't do that with the XL. You could just record the loop into your daw as a reference though

I was thinking about it too. But I'm gonna need some MIDI transformer to sync it with Cubase, right? Something like this?

Nope.

Sample ins, are active only in sample mode.
