Spyrus Rd300 (MCDSIK 1) external CF Drive

I can't say, because I don't know exactly what you are working with.
Your card fits in the adapter properly right?

I am also using a cheapo PCMCIA adapter. If your CF card works in your PC, it should work in the spyrus, but trying a different card wont hurt.

my macbook pro has no PCMCIA slot...

thing is i dont have TYPE # for the card...

it fits perfectly into the spyrus and according to the maunal the spyrus accepts all types 1-4 :/

did you also run into not compatible CF Cards?

or is that unlikley to be the cause?

anyway, as i said the STATUS LED stays red, didnt you ever run into that?

anything about that SCSI Termination thats mentioned in the manual? any problem with having my Spyrus staying instead of lying?
Anything with about wich connector on the rear i use and witch # to set etc?
but all that rather would not make the Status LED stay red i suppose


i hate this shyt... first the wrong SCSI cable, than the wrong USB CF Reader, than the wrong USB Floppy, than the wrong PCMCIA and/or CF Card

does this ever end?

i was ready to finaly drop some good stuff into the ASR but not being able to save...

yeah, i am able to make some nice tracks on the mpc60 alone tho

but that is not my plan, i gonna need my setup up and running finaly

1. Set Spyrus to 1
2. Put pcmcia/1 or 2gb cf in the bottom sloot of spyrus
2. Put the OS floppy disk in the ASR
4. Turn on Spyrus, Then Turn on ASR
5. Hit Command then System Midi
6. Keep hitting the system midi button till you see Format Scsi Device (1) (yes)
7. Interleave = 0 (Yes)
8. CF will be *****Formating**** (this will be displayed on asr screen during format)
A 2GB CF Card will Take a while to format so be patient. (like 20mins) Status Lights on the spyrus shows CF Activity.
9. When done, Back to system midi and copy the OS to CF

Next time you turn the ASR on you will not have to start up with the floppy.

YU THE MAN, Ceo!!! it seems it was because i didnt turn on the Spyrus BEFORE the ASR... me idiot

keeps formatting since several minutes now, so i am sure its all fine

i was really wondering why it didnt work with the PCMCIA/CF i had... also the Status LED went off right when i started the ASR

yep booting within seconds from CF now

took somemore time until it finaly was saved to the CF and SCSI set to storage decive when startup (had to save global paramters i think)

but fine now.... now i am ready to roll

i think i have read that only a certain number of files/folder wil be accepted by the ASR reading the CF Card

could you give me an advice if i need to make special folders when i save Instruments to the CF ?

do i need some kind of tree with subfolders etc?
