Hey Guys first of all sorry for my bad english i come from germany =) So the problem is I bought the correct RAM card for the MPC 500,install it correctly (but one of these plastic things to hold the ram down broken) anyway when i have turned my mpc on it says "128mb ram installed" so it worked. But now it doesnt work for any reason. it dont says "damaged memory" or something like this only "mpc 500 start up owned by etc) so my question is whats wrong? why the mpc dont recognice the ram stick? I heard that when something is wrong with your ram stick then the mpc says "check your memory" or sth. like that .
Can anyone help me ?

Ps. sorry for my bad english again =)

ah and sorry when a tread like this is already exist i didnt found an answer for my question

i will be very thankfull for any help

bye

I'm no sherlock holmes, but if the plastic clip that holds your RAM chip down is broken and the MPC says that there's something wrong with your RAM... well, i'd say it's your RAM! and I'm not saying the type of RAM, I mean the connection between your RAM and your MPC isn't good enough - it's not connected correctly.

if you take the RAM out and your MPC runs fine, then it's the connection between your upgrade RAM chip and the MPC. If the plastic clip holding the RAM in place is broken.. then you may be limited to working with a smaller amount of RAM.

ok first thanks for the quick reply beetle =)

the mpc works the same when the memory is out like the memory is in without saying anything. but why? it worked a long time with the broken plastic clip..

anyway ok one option is being limited to working with a smaller amount of RAM but can i buy a new hold down ram clip explicit for the mpc 500 ( i found one but for the 1000 or 2500) or any ideas how to solve it in other ways?

not sure about buying replacement clips for RAM

http://www.mpcstuff.com/mpc-1000-and-25 ... 02500.html

maybe this? it says mpc1000 but it's listed under mpc500... maybe it works on both? I bought my pads from there and they were listed as MPC500 but they are just MPC1000 pads cut to size (they work fine though!).

i would ask someone in the mpc1000 forum here, or go into a shop where both the mpc1000 and mpc500 are on display and take a look in the battery compartment to see if it's the same clips in both.
