How can I make my pads cut eachother off on my 2000 classic

I sample my sounds in trim the loop. Then I go into zone edit and chop out the pieces I want. Then I go into the assign screen and change the overlap to mono but the pad still only cuts itself off and not the other pads. What step am I forgetting? Is there a way to set this up for the entire program or is it on a pad by pad basis?

can u set it up so all pads cut eachother off

the max is 2 notes. Another option is that you set the pad to NOTE OFF. You can make broken beats with that aswell.

With Broken beats i personally mean beats made from a chopped-up sampled beat. Does this make any sense?
