"Correct Timing" drums

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this but...

I am knew to the MPC word.. I am using a MPC2500 i read the manual... and all Iam off to making beat... made some unfinished beats.... my main problem now is the drums....

when i do my drums I turn off the timing correction because I dont know how to make that thing work... I messes up my drum feel... but I want to know how to WORK WITH IT, not work against it.

do you guys have any advice on how to work with the drum correct timing..

any links.. or anything....

I think whats happening to you is that you are sequencing your drums with Timing Correct off, then when you turn it on it's misplacing where you put your drums right?

Do yourself a favour and read up on "musical time- bars". You need to know how musical timing works or your going to be banging your head against a wall.

Basically timing correct places your sequenced beats to a bar-in perfect sequence to the time of the song. You should look that up to get an understanding on how it works- and how music is composed in general, it will help you tenfold. It would take me a year to try and explain it here

Read up on 'SWING" also because how you have your timing correct set (with swing or without) has an effect on how your beats will sequence and sound. "Swing" is a term used to describe the point during the bar sequence which is accentuated. For example lets say you have a 4/4 beat( 1,2,3,4). If swing is set to 75%, the 3rd beat in the bar will be accentuated (1,2,3,4)

I have an MPC 500 but the principle is basically the same.

btw... have you ever made a beat that you cant finish? because its so good that it gets you dancing and you just cant finish it..hehehe

yea I turn off the TC all the time.. my rhythm better atleast until like 20 bars... of 4/4s
