yes i do

I'm not limited by 512mb of ram, I have access to all of my sounds instantly, browsable from the controller and tagged in my own custom categories. I don't have to "track out" my beats if I don't want. I can just export the wave file and it's already there, in the digital realm, where my beats would end up anyway after I go through the trouble of tracking them into the computer.

I have two insert fx on each pad, plus 2 insert fx on each group, plus two for the master out.

changing the pitch, filter, envelop, asdr, velocity etc is a turn of a knob away, non destructive, I don't have to wait for it to "apply".

in addition to the two insert fx on each pad, I also have compression, drive, and bit reduction at the turn of a knob

I'm a huge fan of ableton, it's the only daw I liked coming from hardware, but I still use Maschine more because it's all hands on and very familiar in workflow to what I'm used to.

having instant access to things I wish I could do quickly on the mp is dope to me

I really never liked the idea of using the mp with ableton, i feel ableton is more than capable of doing everything my mp can and more, so to me there's really no point in hooking the two together in my opinion.

but again, all this is just for me, I'm not saying it's why everyone should stop everything and get Maschine.

I'm a huge believer that you have to use whatever let's you be the most creative, for me it's Maschine, for others it's the mpc, some choose ableton, others choose logic or reason.

it's all good.

hahahaha

well, I still say try it if you can, it really depends on your workflow.

for instance, there is no timestretching yet, so if you use that a lot on the mp that's something you should know

it currently doesn't have destructive editing, so if you like to truncate, cut, delete and such when sampling into the mp as part of your workflow, wait because that's coming in the next update.

i didn't think that was huge since I'm using my computer as the brain, I don't have to worry about small amounts of ram so truncating wasn't an issue. and even on the mp I didn't sample into it much, usually drag my wavs and samples into it and play with them that way.

there are other little quirks it has but they keep listening to the users and updating accordingly so it's all good. And none of the quirks stop me from working or even get in the way at all.

I'm not gonna try it though, I already have what I need.

Idk, I just don't think it's much of a wise purchase... for people who already have gear or even if they're just starting out. I'm not saying it sucks, just that there's better options out there for the price. Logic is just 500, and I could cop the academic version Ableton Suite for 500 also. You can mix and make a track in either of these programs alone. I'm not sure if you could mix in Maschine or if it's bundled with sounds (besides percussion).

it's definitely not a replacement for a daw... which is why I like it.

I don't like making beats in a daw, which is why ableton is the only "daw" I really liked. It didn't have the same feel as all the others.

As for Maschine...It's an instrument...with ableton or logic, you still need a controller, and it will never be as hands on and integrated as Maschine and it's software is. The closet thing you have for ableton would be the apc...and that's another 400 bucks.

I wouldn't say it's not a wise purchase, it's just not for you, that's cool lol.

That's why I said it matters on the person, there may be better options out there for you, or others...to me, there's nothing out there that can do what Maschine does, the way it does and I'd never purchase another mpc again, not the way it exists now, they'd need to do a major overhaul and move more in the direction of Maschine, integrating with software and hardware.

Maschine has regular sounds too, not just percussion. keys, synths, bass, strings, etc.

it's not a full studio or daw, and I think that's where many people get it confused. It's not flstudio, or logic, or cubase, or protools, etc.

It's a production station, a workstation...it's just already in the digital domain

but again, this is all my opinion and how it works for me, you have to know what you want and why...

I would.

I think Akai would do something like that... Make a product to compete with the Maschine. Maybe they'll team up with Ableton again.

had mine for 2 1\2 months, solid piece, just the pattern mode is taking me some time to get use to, hope fully the next update you can record track mute's, and trucate!

let's only hope so...they should have been the first to do it.

i'm sure we'll see more of the hybrid approach.

keep an eye on motu, we'll be seeing a controller for their bpm software at some point

all akai needs to do is make a virtual mpc, with a controller that operates just like an mpc, solid sequencing, and allow you to host vsts in it.

they could easily step in and take the market over, but....I just don't know if their thinking on that level anymore

Ha, Akai will be the last to do it. Most of their money is from the MPC's. That would be so sick though. APC1000, APC2000XL, APC2500, APC3000, APC4000. lol.

Yeah AKAI seem a bit lost.
NI got some good ideas going on, Maschine is a lot deeper than I originally thought.
Saw this the other day found it interesting.

Extra modules and software that intergrate is a good plan, imo. Keeps your customers buying extra stuff.
With AKAI you might buy a set of pads/keyboard or an MPC but buying more than one is a bit pointless for most people.

If the Maschine had an option to add its own audio interface and storage so that, if required, it could be used independent of a computer, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Think future OS updates will be interesting though and certainly a product I'm keeping an eye on. Would love to see Yamaha supersede the RS7000 or Roland update the MC909 to offer Maschine type integration though. MC909 hardware architecture, in particular, would lend itself to this sort of integration but Roland seem more interested in Fantoms and things like the SP404-SX.

MPC1000 + JJ Sequencer still interesting too. Thought I would be giving JJ more money this Christmas but nothing has materialised of late.

if motu drop a controller for bpm that would be interesting.

maschine defo is a good product and when the vst integration and other tweaks arrive shit will be fly

but the above quote is precisely the functionality being offered by the beat thang hardware

I agree but, unfortunately, there still appears to be no sign of the (much hyped) hardware.
