Complete NOOB: Where do you guys get your sounds???

Just bought a used 2k, was curious where do you guys get your sounds. Do you guys download from websites or purchase from companies?

i buy these old school record things..

the more u download the less original u become!!

So the majority of your sounds come from records? So my next purchase should be a turn table and some records?

that would be a very wise investment...
i mean u can get sounds anywhere...but if u plan on using more original sounds,then thats something ur going to have to find on your own..

you can always use royalty free sounds from places like "gotchanoddin" or "motion studios"
but if ur diggin through vinyl to find something that more fits ur needs,,ur beats are going to more "yours"

and its always much cooler to say "yeah i made that"

you dont need a top of the line deck..just suntin that plays decent!!!!

let me re-phrase that....the more of someone elses samples you download the less original you become..

Straight up depends on what you want to use the final product for


If you are doin a track just to be creative and amuse yourself and others and have fun, sample from vinyl records/ cd's whatever, wherever ignoring copyright laws because no harm done in personal use.


now, on other hand if you want to make sample based beats but the legal kind that you can legally re distribute/ sell

or license thru a place like http://www.pumpaudio.com/artists/

go ahead and buy royalty free sample sets because you are basically paying a one time sample clearance fee to the company for use of a bulk set. but being royalty free after that you can re-distribute the beats/songs for sale or license or free whichever is your thing.

you can kinda switch back and forth between the two methods, doing it different depending on what the beat your making is intended for.

sampling vinyl or other songs is def more fun but also a little limiting in some avenues. If you want to sell mp3 beats online to hobby rappers/singers do it however the fQ!3! you want to do, like a deejay sellin/ handin out mixtapes to get gigs

nah i would consider myself more of a populist....

hes not asking to download songs and make samples...hes asking where to download samples..

theres a big difference here..

originality is definitely diggin through those "crates" and finding them jewels....

not letting someone else do it for you..

if i use a sample that u and 10,000 other people are using, after 10,000 tracks,how original can i make that sample?

and were not talkin the samples u and i dig up,,were talkin some one shot xr-20 samples...u hear the samples bro,,there few and far between!!!

i guess just comming from a vinyl junkie,it was the easiest thing to say!!!!!!!!!

or if were talkin guitar..i leave that up to my main man rob for electric and my wife for acoustic...

You guys dont want herpes do you? Buy rare records, they've been with less people. Less chance of herpes.
