Holding notes by keeping your finger on the pad.

Hey guys... just chopped up some samples, and I want to configure a couple of the pads so that the note actually holds (continues playing) until I take my finger off the pad.


I thought that you had to open in programs, select the pad, highlight the sample, and then press window and change the layer from one shot to note on. This isn't working for me.

PS: If it matters, I don't think I have the latest OS update.

Either... set notes to note on events if that's what you mean...

If you mean for something like a bass sound, then also set your loop points so that it can sustain the note.

For some reason after I set "note on" it's still not holding the not until I take my finger off the pad.

Is the correct way to set note on in PROGRAM ... hit the pad, select the sound and press window?

Do you want to sustain a musical note such as a piano note, or do you want to be able to play a long sound in a long/short period of time... say a cymbal as both a cymbal and a closed hi hat?

Please explain what it is you are trying to do.

For example, if I chop and sample and certain guitar chord, and I want to be able to hold the chord for 4 whole notes...

you have to set, (loop start and end points), ... and turn loop on.

its in the manual. but that's what has to happen.

the sample can start at one place, and then the loop can go in the middle, and then release itself.

I think hes trying to play and hold the note longer than the sample is...

So the "loop function" under the Trim-screen will solve this problem for him like said before.
