ONE GOOD PEICE OF ADVICE FOR BEATMAKERS AND PRODUCERS

CAN YOU please post the most important peace of advice you can think of for producers and beatmakers who are new to the industry. THanks and Peace.

BE REAL, BE YOU, TRYING TO SOUND LIKE ANY ONE ELSE WILL LEAD YOU DOWN THE PATH OF MADNESS.

If the main 8 bar pattern in ya beat doesn't make ya nod ya head itself,

scrap it, no amount of drops and fills and breakdowns later will save it.


avoid long intro's in beats for sale or beats submitted for any kind of placement

get right to the meat of the beat grab attention immediately or not at all.


PROMOTE YOURSELF ruthlessly and Shamelessly, because if you won't promote yourself, why will anybody else promote you.
if nobody knows your name, nobody will find your beats even if you are the best to bang pads, you are competing with thousands of others who are after the same thing, find a way to stand out from the masses.
whenever people show extra love for your work, make them part of your promotional engine

believe in yourself and others will follow or fall behind and not matter anyway


Be positive, be nice to people, don't be a dickhead to anybody as you never know may be in a position to help you at some point in time.


if you have a question, ASK IT,

learn by doing whenever possible.


start as a beatmaker learn to be a producer.


beatmaker makes a beat and passes it along and moves onto next beat.

a producer has interest and input onto the final mix and master of the finished song,

learn recording engineering
mixing
mastering

learn how radio compression limiting affects song quality


be persistent and consistent and reliable

don't be a snob, work with as many artists as possible to learn to adapt to different artist needs moods and quirks

never stop learning, use ANY resource to learn while trying to be hands on as much as possible.

One good piece of advice, do it for the love of music. If you love music, hen youlle learn to love your music. If your doing it for a paycheck and constantly doing for others, you become a beatwhore, a dirty used up low self esteem junkie who sells themselves for money(sorry BG)

No, actually BG is right, vigirious and relentless promotion is key to make it, but to be a good beatmaker, you gotta learn to love your music, and what you do with it. Love your gear, for tools are the epicenter f any grand masterpiece.
Love your manual, for it will avoid you being clowned from MPC-Forums.com
But most of all, love that pu$$y, for it will open many doors(I banged this one broad back in the day when I was rockin a 1000, and she sold a beat of mine for 200 dollars, so I made rent and baught new gear)

so work with the method that suits you best as it's the end product that counts.
