Got a MPC5000 a month ago, and spent time doing basics, ie preloaded drum kits and sounds. Now I'm at the point where I'm ready to sample, however I'm having issues converting to WAV files through windows media player (vista), it seams to be set up to change it to the correct format, maybe not, doesn't seam to work at all. Would buying Pro tools be the best option for me now? I'd welcome any and all advice. But I'm guessing having the correct software is my fix? Thanks all, enjoying the music and wealth of information....also I have deemed the mpc to be my insomnia box.

not all wavs are the same - eg. 16 bit, 24 bit,.

make sure you'e converting to the file type compatible with your machine.

Your samples might not be what I said they should be.

Your ram might not be seated properly.
