sometimes the computer takes FOREVER to recognize the MPC. You can always try connecting it first then starting up the MPC

The manual I'm using is called Beat Making on the MPC1000, written by mpc-tutor on page 41 it says, "The USB port serves only one purpose - to allow your computer to read a memory card in the mpc1000 memory card slot. You cannot attach a USB hard drive to this port and load/save samples to and from it, nor can you use the USB port for any other form of data connection. "

Well, you can't print from it, lol. Cant do midi through it. So that's that.

I'm not trying to outsmart you or anything like that. I'm just trying to figure this out and i interpreted the information wrong. That's what this forum is for. So, what am do i need to do. Should i try to clear some wav memory?

Nah I don't take it like that at all, we clown alot here that's all.
any red-white rca to 1/4 dual mono cable should be fine to sample into your mpc.
For portable cd player to mpc line in.
For home stereo to mpc line in.
