MPC2000XL ZIP100 upgrade doesn't work!

Does anyone have a copy of the original installation instructions that came with the MPC ZIP Kit? I recently purchased the installation kit, consisting of an IDE cable and a power cable for £20 from a London dealer.

Once the Zip 100 was installed and hooked up i tested it out. Power was being supplied to the zip drive, the indicator light came on and it was possible to eject the Zip discs.

The problem is that the drive was not recognized by the MPC, disabling the removed floppy, as stated on MPC200XL.com.

i cant believe that only one website has details of how to do this!
Or is there anyone in London who can do the install for me?

Did you check the jumpers in the back of your internal zip drive?

Change it to master or single.

If the light constantly stays on then you have the data cable upside down. Some cable don't have a key (nevamind all that). Is there a red wire on one side of the data cable? That side is placed nearest the power cable.

Im in camberwell. As stated i am already aware of the details at MPC2000XL.com which can hardly be described as definative!

I guess it would be wiser to have someone with experience to do the upgrade in the absence of any official Akai fitting info. Im sure willing to 'compensate' anyone who can do it for me.

I threw away the ZIp drive in disgust, so i'll have to get another first off Ebay!

i got a zip 100 i took out of a old comp with a all these cord i just tool out everything incase i decided to use some day, well i think the time has come ,instead of a cf card or MCD i think i'll use this my buddy justgave me some zips for a 100 so i think i'll use it plus someoneon here gave me a USBzip 100before and i figure no better tme to use them both, so what you think i just install this in place of the floppy.\one other question will it save the same way as the floppy save everythingbefore shutting off right?

cool so I'm gong to have to splice the cables then, so only a set of wire cutters is needed?cant you just take the power cord off the floppy?well i should just open it but i dont want to FHAK it up; it's been 10 yrs and it's worked perfect this far ,i just want to be sure i get it down so i can do it in one shot. this is major surgery here this is an artery i'm taken out .
will i beable to put the floppy back iF it dont work for some reason?

Sizes: The XL model can officially use SCSI drives up to 4.5 Gig, according to the manual. I have used 6 and 9 Gig drives with the MPC2000XL.

it's working GREAT i just need to work with it a bit to figure out the OS thing i still got the OG OS it came with it's working fine tho what does that OS upgrade do to it, did you change yours? IS IT NESSARY!!

i just got to figure out why my comp doesnt read my zip's it says it full but i can't get in to it , it tells me to insert disc when the disc is already in.i'm transfering from my 250 to my computer. any idea?
