3.c Did you really just claim to sell 12,000 units of the virtual in December 2009? Do you really want that claim on the record, especially since a lot of us know that it is false?

Hehe. I started from a similar perspective as you BLiTzZD. Give the company a chance, let the product speak for itself. It didn't take long for me to throw that out the window and realize I'll never purchase anything from this company, EVER.

It started with the Beatkangs claiming Akai stole a bunch of their sounds and threatening to murder employees of Akai. It continued with them creating fake accounts on a couple of other websites and trying to hype the product. On one site they were caught and banned. It's continued on this site with AJA being an idiot and a fool. He rotates between insulting us and playing the martyr (i.e. we're trying to kill dreams of a minority-run startup).

I think they came here, believing we were their target market. For a while, AJA was promising all sorts of pie-in-the-sky features. But they may have found they can't create such a machine and still sell it at a profit at an MSRP of $1,000K.

From AJA's posts it sounds like they are changing focus to a more user friendly and simple device focused on a broader target market of teens with no musical background but who want to be instant "producers". Question is, can they pull the price of their hardware down to one that is friendly to this market? It may explain why their hardware is delayed. It may also explain why AJA has written us off and is going back to being an ass.

Loving the drama in all the beatkangz threads, those guys can really entertain.

user friendly has always been the target they neva seemed to be be only going after the peeps already producing they was always targeting newcomers to production.

but u asked pertinent question can they get the hardware price to a level where its cool for that market cos the virtual is priced well but the hardware is way up there in price.

I have a petition on their forum to drop the price to like $800 for the hardware.

they cant drop the price, they promised the flashy color LCD and the metal chassis...those two items alone drive the cost up. Especially if the casing is a solid piece of aluminum being machined... They were too concerned with trying to bling out their product. Now they are PHUCKED. If the price comes down it wont be without sacrificing something off the machine. But they already showed the world that they can get "crunk" and have "grillz" and a pimpin screen and blinking lights (WOW)...which means that in order to drop the price some of the guts are gonna get swapped out (because we all know the aesthetics are more important lol).

there dont seem to be much support for dropping the price but if the shit takes off the price will naturally drop over time.

but i could live without the grills n flashy lights but as folks said the mpc1k is king for hardware samplers right now.

the machine is the best option for those who like hardware but with computer benefits, the only two products that can upset the ranking potentially is the motu bpm controller and the kangs should be interesting to see how it pans out.

i know peeps talk about vapour ware but these look pretty real, liking that colour screen also
