Floppies zips and cards act the same on the 2kxl in that you need to
format on pc with fat, use 8 characters or less for the filenames. That's what I used to do and it's what
I've been preaching to others for years. I've moved on from floppies to zips and now mcd but I still do it this same way.
I have two Lexar 512mb cf cards, work perfectly.
Formatting those floppies, zips, and cards on mpc won't work on computer.
I think your startup won't act right be ause of the middle connector on that IDE cable is being used
like we talked about.
There are also round cables out there as well, they let air flow through your system better, but yep, they are the same
pins and everything, just take it with you to the computer shop and let them know you want the same cable
BUT without the plugged up hole in the corner side.
Q11: Why is the 20th hole plugged on the Ribbon Connector?
A11: It is a means of preventing the cable from being installed (plugged in) upside down. Users that inadvertently plug a cable in backwards can cause damage to both the hard drive and the motherboards interface. If your system does not have the corresponding missing pin, you may remove this plug by "teasing it out" with a straight pin.
