Forum to discuss all matters relating to the MPC1000 and MPC2500 operating systems created by 'JJ' (all versions).

After months of trying to hack/crack a jjos-xl for free, I finallly decided to just 'pay for it' tonight.

I went from the free 3.09 version, loaded up the latest jjos xl into my 2500 & I immediately noticed a difference in the volume & dynamic levels of my sequences.
It's sounds like all of the volume levels have been changed & messed up & some sounds have lost their volume :(
I rolled back to the free version & all of my volume levels were fine again. So, it seems that in changing the O.S, some playback/sequencer settings are changed automatically but I don't know what these settings are??

I've checked each track from sample levels to effects, eq's, program changes & global master level & there are no differences that I can see that would make the levels misbehave in this manner.

If anybody knows of any setting that I may have missed or if this has happened to you when you upgraded to Xl, then please let me know if there's a simple fix for this problem.

Kind regards,

Peace & Luv....

RTFM

...Lack of file compatibility between the different versions of JJOS is a well known limitation.

So you mean to tell me that my super-80's MPC track that I sequenced with super-80's precision is now officially super-f*cked??

Well ain't this a b*tch

Ps. I tried the 2500 OS 1 & it played everything back perfectly but OS 2 & XL seem to alter the playback dynamics dramatically.
Any suggestions??

Stop making '80s tracks...use JJOS2 and get started on the '90s revival. 8)

instead of trying to crack xl and get it for free for months should have just layed down the notes straight up then layed down your 80's tracks

Track out your old projects or switch the os when you want to work on them. Ain't much more you can do really.

I figured it out! :D

When you change from the free JJ OS to XL, the operating system is far more sensitive to sequence velocities.
So, to make your old sequences sound like they're supposed to, you have to adjust/raise the "velo" settings in program mode -closer to 100 so that there isn't too much dynamic variation between notes.
Then, on each track, (main page) adjust the velocity levels until the samples/drums sound like they used to.
It's quick & simple, & far more sensible than switching your O.S. everytime you want to work on an old O.S. track

Midi doesn't seem to be affected by any OS change.

Thanks for the replies....

I'm 80's music forever

I've actually just upgraded from JJOS1 to 02XL and noticed that the master level reverted back at -12db (MODE+OTHER i think)... Might be stupid and you certainly checked that already but that's my 1st tip...

Also, JJOS has a pre-filter attenuation parameter (that's set to 80 by default). In program mode, go to the sample page, and adjust the LEVL parameter up to 100. Its to the left of the TUNE parameter.

is it possible to default the volume level to 100? i created a a program and have it autoload from the cf which is the only way i know to work around this.

Good day.

So I am loading MPC 2500 projects created in the original AKAI OS.

I load it into JJOS XL, and go into song mode/pattern.
Actually, any sequence I play I have the same issue. HERE:

The midi data played on tracks, for output to Logic Pro vst's, is incorrect. Also the midi data going to another sound module. There is data there but it looks weird, in GRID MODE.

The notes I played are not the notes being played originally in the AKAI OS. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Sebastian
