It depends if it is Polyphonic with its midi capabilities...

some polyphony is based on number of keys you can play at once, some is based on assigning midi channels to instruments like on your ASR... if it has more than one pair of stereo outs, chances are that you can run more than one sound at a time.

a lil update

i have (or had) everything running... no issues with OS 3.10

but in a stupid situation yesterday i had to formatt my Midi Layout Disk... i prefered erasing that over erasing sample disks

becuase its actually not hard to set up once done...

ok no problem... took me some minutes to set up again the 8 ASR and 16 Logic Tracks + 1 SE1 Track

i can record Sequences just fine and they play back just fine

BUT my issue now, i am not able to play the SE1 or Logic VSTS with my ASR Keyboard anymore.... i am trying everything here but i dont know whats messed up again.

the remarkable weird thing is: when i hold an ASR Key while switching in the MPC between MIDI type and DRUM type in the Main screen i get a short and correct note signal into Logic... but only showing me shortly wich note was payed, does not really reach the VST.

+ i am mistakenly triggering all VST loaded Tracks in Logic with only ONE MPC Track selected

for example: Track 11 = 3C should only trigger the 3rd Logic VST track but triggers all loaded ones

+ it only works like this when the MPC Tracks are set to DRUM ..when set to Midi nothing happens at all... i know this wrong as Lampdog allready told me, it should be set to MIDI and i am sure i had this problem earlier in this "history" but i ve re-read al threads several times now and testing... without solving this shyt

can anybody think of a solution / cause of this?

JUST TO MAKE IT CLEAR, I CAN PLAY,RECORD AND PLAY BACK ASR sounds played with KEYS, BUT CANT play VSTS OR SYNTH ON KEYS (or Mpc drums) BUT ONLY ASR SOUNDS
I CAN play all of these with the MPC pads tough

wtf?

The only thing, I can tell you right now is to unhook everything and start over. The objective is to get everything working 1 by 1, the right way.

Youll get it.

Hi mate

glad i could get someone to respond again on this topic.

what do you mean with unhook everything? you mean the midi cabling

i tried that during operation and switching cables etc, but it didnt help

do you have the ASR keys version and use the keyboard to play other sound modules beside the ASR sounds?

after i messed up the disk, i DID start from scratch again.

the ASR settings are all still there and correct of course,
in the MPC (now on 3.10) i did set up 8 ASR and 16 Logic Tracks again and set them each to its channel (i.e. 1A,2A,3A....)

when i was on OS 2.12 i had to go for every track to the Midi Settings and select wich of the 16 ch. i want to use for the track (i.e. i had to set 3A in the Main Screen and 3 in the Midi section)

in the 3.10 the only setting that could mean the same functionality is the MIDI RECIVE wich i have set to "ALL" but even if i set it to the corresponding track ch, like i had to do in the 2.12, it wont make a difference

i hate to run into this Forum again with more or less the same problem that i had solved already, but i cant help it.

the only other 2 options i can think of are:

1) i unmount the 3.10 again and put the 2.12 again in to do the temaplte disk once again... (i rather dont want to do that to prevent damaging the chips)

2) someone (YOU?) send me via email a Floppy image with the correct template layout!?

I have the Rack Version (no Keys). I use my fantom keyboard with it. I have logic, but don't use it.
I use protools. I'll check logic out with my 60 a lil later.

When I say unhook, I mean disconnect. Troubleshoot. Everything is basically laid out in writing already, I don't know what more I can tell you.

Do not re-install the OS Chips. Leave that alone.

PM Lord T for the disk image.

i did mail him, but the honorable Lord T took back his offer and is not willing to send the image anymore...for what seems to me wicked educational reasons  whatever... cant help it, so i someone else have such a layout template disk he could send me the image of, maybe even with the chromatic assignment (but i can also handle that myself) that d be a blessing.

so with unhook you also mean inner parts like Ram etc?

okay i will try

somehow i am getting the feeling that the midi may not be allright in either the mpc or the ASR, someone mentioned earlier that could be an issue...

but i can perfectly use the ASR to MPC connection tho.... just no other soundmodules for the keys available.

and if the AR samples are too long the MPC will only record the stacatto attack sounds.. that may point to a midi overload aswell...

 Well he did offer it to you, and you gracefully declined.

No. I didn't say take apart your MPC 60. There is nothing wrong with your 60 or the OS chips.

What I meant was to unhook aka "Disconnect" the midi cables in your set-up and start from scratch, by getting everything working with your mpc 1 by 1 correctly. The problem you are having is user era.
Trace your steps and try to figure it out. "Midi"

I don't transfer disks back and forth from pc to mpc60, so I don't have that program that you guys use to make a disk.

Carefully Read "Chapter 11: Midi Functions" in the MPC60 V3.1 Manual

Pay close attention to Pages 204, and 206

Do that and start over with everything, jumping head first
into so many unsolved problems is not good.

1 by 1.

ok you guys are right, and i am gonna do that.

still... in the back of my mind i have the thought that temporary switching back to 2.12 doing the disk and switching again to 3.10 may be the solution... but i will try that only of the 1 by 1 fails.

oh well...

either its user era or a faulty midi thing

i ve read the whole chapter, the only thing that i thought may have to do with this was the PASS EVENTS settings for all the different paramters... but didnt help

i also re checked all cables, and started step by step first only with the ASR <-> MPC connection etc...

it all doesnt hep/change a thing

so i guess my best bet is the temporary switch back to 2.12 to make the disk

it DID work with my old disk i made there!

in fact it was never a problem at from the beginning to trigger the other soudn modules if i rememer right

and fact is it also worked on 3.10 with the old layout disk...

cr *A* p

i just Fked up the only idea i thought must be working

i killed one teeth on one of the 2.12 OS chips.. so i cant start the old system now to do the disk, i am sure that would have worked fine

now i am really out of ideas

i did the one by one approach, but without sucsess... couldnt get the ASR keys to play other modules

i guess you guys neither have any more ideas abou why this isnt going to work!?

if someone has an old 2.12 OS chipset that he doesnt need i would like to take it  for what seems to be my only solution out of this

I just went through this whole thread.

Some really helpful, patient folk all chiming in to help dude out.

Dude didn't really help himself though, but the effort was there.

Some things are simply not meant to be, so move on...

Get creative, not technical. Keep it simple.

true

but the effort was certainly there and i had it all set up fine until my GF stressed me one evening and i accidently formatted the disk...

since than i have the spooks in there.. dunno whats left to try, still waiting for someone to send me the 2.12 chips so i can reproduce the working setup

its not that i didnt help myself tho.

anyway i am always happy to pass on what i ve learned, so if you got some Qs that i am capable of answering i l do, so not always the same ppl have to..

peace

i ve got it all running again thanks to the Grublet

some interactions between mpc + soundmodule and than again betwen mpc and keyboard/sampler are really NOT easily found like in the manual, so thanks a LOT to Grublet for dropping me than helping one liner via PM!!!!

i ve got one more little Question, rather to Master Ceo if you read this... because i think you said you use Logic/ASR/MPC60 aswell

i used that setup explained on youtube to link Logic as Soundmodule to the MPC

this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skr9ayp8 ... re=related

but i am having the same issue one dude wrote there:

"Great Video!!...Everythings work but i have one problem... When I play/record one Instrument in logic i heat all tracks in logic... What do I wrong??"

exactly what happens to me

when i record one sequence for Logic track 1 it automatically also triggers track 2 if thats loaded with a vsti aswell

when i record a second sequence, both seqeunces (2nd is on Midi ch 2 of course) trigger both Vsti tracks

now even more weird, i can not trigger the 3rd track or later ones and send something throgh midi ch. 3-16 i think

if you cant help Cep, no problem but i thought i would just ask, maybe you knwo whats up with this

thanks
