Do I need to have Midi in and out on my audio interface?

I want to have it so that I can send 8 tracks simeoutaneously to my DAW on my laptop. I have an mpc1000 with midi in and out on it and I have a M audio Axiom 49 with midi in and out on it as well. Do I need to have an audio interface with midi in and out on it to? And if so, why? Also, any suggestions on a good audio interface to get for $300 or less?

I understand but say I want to record from the axiom to the mpc. Cant I just do that using the midid ins and outs on those devices? Midi in and out on an audio interface would only be useful if I wanted to go straight into the interface from the mpc or axiom, correct?
