The 60

Looking on eBay for one of these babies ... cannot believe they are nearly the price of a 1000. I watched this dude smash an old school style beat on one of these.

From a technical point of view they dont match whats available now, but I feel the beauty of the 60's is the limitations and being forced into that type of workflow and that origional old school type sound.

I want one. But can you get them at a cheaper price than there going for on eBay?

Its a buyers market now, but recently they have been going back up in price it seems. Maybe because peeps have holiday $$$. Always be on the lookout thou. Esp Craigslist (u can negotiate). I got super lucky last month. I bought a 60II w/ all the upgrades (3.1/max memory) except for scsi & dead backlight for $350 off someone on craigslist. I already have a 60, but the deal was to great to pass up. Their are still a ton of uneducated pawn shops & people who have these peices that just want to see them gone. Just realize they are old peices and to get one at a real good price you may need to put a lil bit of work into it. OS, backlight, cleaning, etc...

@ the last comment, I remember picking up an Akai sampler back in 2004 from one of the classified papers in the area. The guy was 70, and had no idea. Found it in his attic. Ended up getting it for $20. Wish the dude had a 60.

I'll keep my eyes open though, thanks of the comments. I didn't know about craigslist so theirs a new place to try.

Keep your eyes open, you might still get lucky. I got my MK1 for 850 $, fully expanded (OS, memory, SCSI) which was pretty decent I think. Although this was in Europe, but you often see them advertised for more than that over here.
