MPC60 question

I'm thinking about purchasing a MPC60II with 3.10, and I was wondering if there were any programs available for OSX that would enable me to edit and chop samples on my computer in Recycle, then save the samples as the .snd format which would enable me to save it on a floppy disk and load up in the MPC. I know Awave can do this, but that seems to be PC only.

I don't know how the situation is for the Mac users, but I believe people have done what you just described.

However, I wouldn't really recommend an MPC60 if you primarily intend to chop stuff on a computer and just import it to the machine, as opposed to actually sampling it on the MPC60. Very much extra work for little benefit, but that's just my opinion

I mainly import sounds for repetative tasks like hihats.. it's not really that temptating to sample several hundred hihats since I don't feel the machine adds much character in doing so. Might as well import them..

Well I have many samples now chopped up in wav format and I'd like to just load them up in the MPC60 so I can use the 12 bit grit to color them up a bit. It would be even better if there was a program that would allow me to map drum programs on my mac as well kind of like Pad187.

why would you take the extra work of sampling/chopping with mouse, converting in another software and in tiny steps feeding the mpc with that ish

while bypassing the mpc 60 Converters?

i did the same of you with my mpc60... the 12bit u have also in that way... not so much as sampling of course, but it's there

yes but chopping in the 60 is actually esay for one shots at least... but yeah, whatever suits you best of course

Been using MpcPgmMaker for a while. First w/MPC3000 now with my 60.

Works Great! Not quite on the Awave level.

I just looked at the website for MpcPgmMaker and it says it's compatible with the MPC 3000, 2000, and 2000XL. I presume it doesn't mention the MPC 60 because with the 3.10 OS it's considered the same as a 3000?

Also if the MpcPgmMaker will allow me to convert my Recycle chops which are 16 bit wav files by default into .snd files, will there be a problem since the the 60 only reads 12 bit or does MpcPgmMaker automatically downgrade whatever 16 bit samples you are trying to send to the MPC60?

The MPC60 can read MPC3000 .snd files.
